Contemplating DEVORE SPEAKERS (and others)....LONG audition report of many speakers
mapman,Thanks for the Ohm Walsh comment, and audition offer.   I know I've heard Ohm Walsh speakers once before, a looong time ago, so it's just a vague memory. My MBL 121 omnis do a similar kind of thing - the MBLs are spectacular within their fr...

fsconicsmith,That’s a great description of the Devore speakers, thanks! That’s pretty much what I heard. They pull off the tricky combo of being thick and rich, but not dark, but rather light, airy and fast in the upper mids. And boy I love synth st...

atmasphere,Thanks for the input and info. I read the link; really interesting.I admit I remain skeptical about an ESL that doesn’t exhibit the ghostly quality I mention, just because I’ve been listening to them since the 90’s - I’ve heard the soun...
YOUTUBE and Vinyl are gonna bankrupt me!
Dear goodness, drmemory62!   I took a look at Better Records, saw the prices on the first page and immediately closed the browser window out of fright.Nope.  Not gonna go that far.
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
Well gosh, if a group wants a discussion among folks who only want to discuss differences in cables they think they hear, with others of the same mind set, by all means do so and have fun. Just call it something other than "DO CABLES MAKE A DIFFER...

Well, I used to swap more often than I do currently.  Maybe once a month or so. And previous to that I used to do it almost every night.   That's because I used to use my home theater (Hales) speakers for two channel as well.  So I had speaker wir...

BTW, as someone who has numerous speakers, spade connectors drive me nuts.  I much prefer bananas for the ease of use.

Yeah I know 70 db should be no problem for any decent speaker.  As I mentioned I do like to crank it more when I'm listening from a distance, so that's when I have to watch it.  Though the Thiels are so clean, and have such punch, it's hard not to...
DO CABLES REALLY MATTER?
I see calvinj is still running with the old "ears or gear" response to cable skeptics. Which is of course just another form of put down - if you don’t hear these amazing cable differences either your ears are crap or your gear is crap...hey, don’t...

Thanks for the input.   (Scary stuff for us 2.7 owners, ronkent!)The record played that caused the crackling was probably the most dynamic recording I've ever played on the Thiels.  I didn't really know how loud it would get and usually I have a v...

Random thoughts....Was over at a pal’s house listening to his Martin Logan ESLs (hybrids).I started with Quad ESL 63s, and early listening to Quad ESL 57s were formative in my younger days. I still love the 57s, and if there’s a set of electrostat...

Yikes,Had someone over auditioning a turntable I was selling.  Playing through my Thiel 2.7s.    He put on Wagner and then Also Sprach Zarathustra with a crazy amount of bass from an LP.  I was sure at one moment when the low organ peaked I heard ...

As you demonstrate, elizabeth, brevity is easy when you reduce your posts to attacking the person, not the content.Stay classy. ;-)
Thinking of Kef Blade 2 to replace Revel Salon 2
ejlif,Sounds great!   That one brief time I heard the Blades I was blown away.    I really like a cool looking speaker, and the Blades ARE cool looking IMO!
