Speaker wire is it science or psychology
I have no interest in responding to this post, these pop up about every 3 weeks or so and usually get way into the doulbe figures with responses, but I would like to comment on Whosyourdaddy's take. What a sickening story that is - it's too bad au...
FIM Gold Power Cords Problems?
Stevedepp, your post is fine don't worry about ratings - that is the first dumb idea audiogon has come up with. In every industry there are irresponsible people on the net, they are incognito - bet they wouldn't have the nerve to rate your post fa...
Speaker Fetish
It's bitch aint it! I'm waiting on some speaker cables for my HT rig now, don't really even need em, well yeah I do sortof. I've got my face pressed against the front window searching for brown trucks. Sometimes when they rudely pass by I chase em...
cable help ?
Stevemj, I wish you had told me this revelation earlier. I've got a few faults (I've been told but don't believe it) but I didn't think what I hear was one.
Best Copper IC under 200.
Kadlec, my thoughts are try MIT through Audio Advisor - 30 day money back guarantee. 330+ or even term series, the term 2 ic is around $80, I know MIT speaker cables and Thiel are an excellent match, I've got em. Not sure about Cary/MIT though. I ...
Tube amp blues
Sometimes swapping tubes (same tubes different channel) in a preamp solves that problem, it has to do with gain, not sure about power amps but worth a try. Good luck.
MIT bashed, not Transparent, why?
OH MAN! I don't know how much more palpability I can take, I remember from one of your prev. posts your impressions about 770's. It made me drool. I really need to up my preamp - big jump or I would definitely make the jump now, or maybe I'll just...
High on Thier List, But Low on Yours
I have also tried to like Audio Research - I even sat through a seminar conducted with their people in conjunction with Apogee and I just don't get it. The sound is so sterile and uninvolving to my ears. I also don't get benefits from alot of twea...
cable length
Be careful, there is nothing worse than a cable not long enough to reach, some speakers like Thiels need at least 8 feet between them and depending on circumstances maybe 9 to 10 feet. So if you ever change speaks... Also resale is not as good IMHO.
MIT bashed, not Transparent, why?
FYI for MIT owners or those considering - I just received some 750+ S3's back from the factory - they were being reconfigured from biwire to single wire for my Thiels. I was using Kimber 8TC in it's place and the improvement was just short of unbe...
Integrated Amp for Thiel 2.3 s ?
Hi Yashi, this is a tough one. I'm a big Thiel fan, IMO they are the best - with the right eq. I've got 3.6's which are very diff. from yours, however, same vein and concept. Tonally accurate and ruthlessly revealing. Even the MIT's or Cardas migh...
Krell versus Levinson experience
Hey jadis, nice exaggeration in your post - "sucks" and "junk". I guess those companies started with a great mission statement. Lets make products that suck, overprice them for the junk they are.
Best value for the buck speaker cables
Kimber 8TC with postmaster term. is the best bang for the buck IMO, but MIT 750 series 2 and 3 is a big step up in my system, YMMV. Haven't heard the MIT terminator series.
Interconnect advice
MIT 330 shotguns, check you input imp., the technology in these cables is input imp. specific - if possible audition, if not buy used and resell if you don't like, you will get your money back. However, you'll like.
Where is the best place for amp s
Hi Craig, my advice is don't do it, I've had long ic's with the components to the side out of the soundfield, and I currently have everything in the middle with the amp in front on an amp stand. I don't notice any difference - if anything I like i...
