MIT Love 'em or Hate 'em Sean, Bob is right on with his rec of Joe Abrams, immensely knowledgable about this hobby in general. I just hope newbies on this forum looking for help can differentiate between legitimate advice, and opinions based on personal experience and jus...
MIT Love 'em or Hate 'em My 2 cents - I love 'em. I think the opposite is true unklecrusty - the better the components the greater the need for a neutral cable. The 350 SG EVO and 350 reference ic's that I use are incredible. There is no sonic signature that I can pinpoin...
Pass X-250 or McCormack DNA-2 Deluxe I second the classe rec., good match for your speakers, however, your current choice and all recs are solid - you have to decide what floats your boat...good luck!
Speaker Cable Feet: Suggestions? I use heavy wrought iron shelf brackets turned upside down, 2 per side, the cable hangs from some of the ornate work, looks pretty cool. It elevates the cable 8 inches off the carpet. I use MIT so the cable is thick, I elevate the network box with...
Is CJ prem 14 a prem 10 with a remote?? Chuck's right, I have tube rolled with the premier 14 with good results but enjoy the stock tubes just as well, maybe better.
JPS AC Cable Upgrades What about the JPS Kaptivator? I'm curious to hear that one myself.
Cable vs. Electronics: biggest bang for the buck What I have learned through personal experience is that without question cables are components and no less important than any other in the rig. For example, I went from MIT high end series, 330 shotguns to reference 350's and EVO's and the improve...
How much does your system retail for? If I added it all up I'd probably climb up on the roof and jump on my head, and if my family found out I'd be forced to do it at gunpoint - I apply that question about the rig to what Sir Paul McCartney said - if you know how much your worth you a...
Where does your user name come from? Pops was my grandfather - one of the coolest guys I have ever known - it's why I'm so cool...

Bryston 14BST and Polk SDA SRS Speaker Cable? I think you'll like Alpha Core MI 2 if you want to clean up the midrange and still get a bang at both frequency extremes. What Polk's are you using, I used to use the srs sda 2.3tl's, in fact I still have them but not in any system.
Conrad Johnson Premier 3A = Dry sound?? Opinions please Nanny, leave your preamp on if you are in and out of listening sessions, it is much better for the tubes and the power supplies, turn it off at night - your tubes will last longer than on and off all the time, plus your preamp will sound its best ...
Budget speaker wire B&W 803 from Classe CA101 Joe's advice is right on, I would second the MIT 750+ or Alpha Core MI 2's, the AC's have a nice bloom in the midrange. The MIT's would also be a good match with Classe and B&W, smooth, great imaging.
Goertz MI2 and amp oscillation That's a good idea, as you know Thiel's binding post is on the bottom and is a hassle to hook up cables - Thanks. |
