Advice On The Mint Tractor 100x power loop unless you have very good eyes. If you can do it outside or in a screened porch the lighting will help. It's a good Tractor, but it is very hard to see with only 3 to 10 x power loops. Just be patient and you will be rewarded. Good...
Using two preamps together to use the phono on one If you get a better pre it'll be worth it later on. I had a 7270 for 18 years and it worked perfectly. I sold it 6 years ago and it is still working fine according to the buyer. I ran a Soundcraftsmen 4200 into a Carver C-1 using the 7270 and it w...
Wilson audio I had Cubs for years with no problems. Some of the Witt I series had problems. I have the Witt II series and they look like they were painted this morning. I use Wolfgang auto wax (for red and black paint) once a month and make sure to keep them o...
Cary SLP-98 price new? Jake, the V12R is a great amp, but more of a pain to bias It needs to be in a big room or the temp will rise by seveal degrees. Mine ran hot enough to cook a hamburger. Sound is good with the SLP98P I jut prefer the CAD120. It does have richer bas...
Cary SLP-98 price new? Jake, I got mine here in Fl, about 5 years ago. I'm using Genelax Gold Lion KT88's in the amp and they work just fine for me. The cart I use is a Linn Adikt 6.5mv on a Black Linn Ittock LVII. Stay away from the DV 10x5 poorly constructed. The 20xH...
Cary SLP-98 price new? Keep searching. 4K was the new price. I bought a new one for 3300.00 a few years ago. I have the CAD 120's and the pre is a perfect match for it. Stock tubes work fine in it. It will work with MC carts if the output is 1.4mV or higher. Good luck.
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors Maybe on Montanas, but my Wilsons don't sound like they need anything. Glad you rate the Wilsons up there with Ferrari though.
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors I roll speakers like some roll tubes. There are no perfect speakers,( except maybe Montanas?) and I'm not lead into thinking things because someone said so. I'm 60 and retired at 49 due to doing things my way. Be happy and enjoy what you have.
Attention Cary V12R owners You should have no problems if it's been rebuilt correctly. I traded mine for the CAD120's. The V12R had only one negative in that it ran too hot for me here in Florida. If it's at least an 8 1900.00 isn't a bad deal. Any more though, and I'd wait...
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors Good design approach or not, it's hard to argue with success. No one speaker or component is for everybody.
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors My speakers have been running just fine since putting in the new resistors. The seller actually paid for them. He may have driven them past their limits the last night that he had them. I never abuse my ears or equipment, so I don't feel that I'll...
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors The design helps to keep from blowing a driver, so that doesn't exactly make it unsound engineering either. Sounds like you may be having a tough time keeping up with the competition.
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors Bjbcab, thanks for explaining. I tried to tell the naysayers. It's just a different approach, but it is easier and less expensive to replace a resistor than a driver, so NO they are not seriously wrongly implemented. I still wouldn't second guess ...
Pairing Cary SLP-03 with Cary CAD-280SA V12 I can tell you from owning a V12R that the SLP98 will work very nicely, but the CAD 120's is a match made in heaven. Hold out for the 98.
Wilson Audio MAXX resistors Roxy54...I guess I should have missled the person that wanted help? You seem to have problems that are far deeper than audio. Instead of asking Dave Wilson, maybe you should contact Captain Kangaroo. Peace |
