What do I do for an upgrade ?
Why don't you see how well the VR4jr's perform with your present gear before you consider whether or not the system needs an additional upgrade? Usually when you make more than one major change at a time you loose your point of reference... And no...
I'm almost too embarrassed to ask, but.....
The perspective of left and right should be with you facing the speakers. If you're using the analog outputs on your DVD player then maybe you reversed the left and right channel interconnects going to the receiver... Or it could be as Kr4 suggests...
Anyone tried Sinc Audio Room Correction System?
Haven't tried it, but I'd be very interested to hear your experience with it when you have some... It looks like it should have a lot of potential.
Looking for an acoustic guitar recording..
You might also try Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - Live at Luther College. It's very upbeat, and VERY well recorded! It has some vocal tracks, but also has some stunning guitar-only tracks. I like track 2 on Disc 2, called "Stream;" there's some ...
What's the frequency Kenneth?
Well, if you're not using shielded interconnects, maybe you should try that, or go to RadioShack and get some RFI filters to install on the interconnects and power cords. Anyway, that's where I'd start. The longer the cable run, the more likely it...
Stax, better newer or older?
To me, the older Lambdas had a different balance than the 404s which I own now. The 404 has better bass and is less bright than the original Lambda, as I recall. That said, I think some of the older Stax phones sound great. I have a set of the "Ne...
Room EQ: When new is Expensive, Old will do
Bigjoe, I appreciate the tips on the dbx units. I'll have to look into those.
Is anyone listening to OLD 78's?
I set up an old Dual 1209 turntable with a Grado mono 78 cartridge just for that purpose. The groove width is much wider on 78s, so you need the correct cartridge/stylus assembly to play them properly. The Equalization is different too -- bass is ...
how good signal cable?
I have two systems; one uses VMPS RM30 ribbon monitors and the other Audio Physic Virgo IIs, both with more expensive electronics than you're running. I use SignalCable in both of them -- not because it's cheap, but because it performs at a high l...
ESL speakers : looking for something..need help
I think a set of Acoustat 1+1 speakers are your best bet for the size room you have to work with. They are two inches shy of eight feet tall, but only about 10 inches wide and have a fairly small footprint. Best of all, they sound quite good -- yo...
Active speaker, the future? or another fad?
It's a good idea in theory -- BUT -- it all depends on how well it's implemented, the quality of the parts used to hit that price point, and which corners they cut to get there...Hopefully there will be some very successful designs of this type in...
Maggie's and cats
What worked well for me (cat repellent spray and a lot of other things failed miserably) was buying a battery-powered motion detector from RadioShack. When I first installed the neat little alarm, after retiring for the evening, I heard the alarm ...
Signal Cable Silver Resolution
I have Silver Resolution speaker, interconnect, and digital cables on order and should have them in a week to 10 days. The interconnects do come standard with the Eichmann Silver Bullets. I am currently using the previous top of the line SignalCab...
What DVD should I use?
Okay, for music, how about the musical, "Chicago"? It sounds quite impressive on my rig. Also, if you want some killer impact, play the plane crach scene from "The Fight Club". Terminator 3 has some nice crunches and explosions, as well.
Martin Logan Aerius problem
You could have a bad panel -- but did you check the continuity of the internal fuse with a meter or simply look at it? I've had blown fuses that didn't look blown...
