"Too much gain"? (Cary SLP05 question) @harpo75 Are you saying the balanced gain total for the ultimate upgrade is now 21 dB rather than 24 dB? And does the gain get lowered with a totally single ended input as well? Also any comments on the sound of the headphone amp in this pr...
Question about the Lumin app Thanks for your response , Spencer. I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to do this but maybe you just can't. ATTENTION: Lumin designers, please add this feature to your app. I consider this a major flaw and see no reason why this...
Home owner's insurance question @ericsch thanks so much for your answers.Would photographs of your system be sufficient proof for an insurance company to support a claim for loss?
Home owner's insurance question This all sounds like a potential nightmare. Let me set up a possible scenario. You have a home owners's policy with a $200,000 limit of liability with replacement coverage for personal property. Your home has a fire and you have a total loss of...
Home owner's insurance question Thanks for the many excellent replies. My policy states: "You may elect to disregard the Replacement Cost provision in making a claim, but your election shall not prejudice your right to make further claim within 180 days after the loss for any a...
Horns: Why don't they image well? As I mentioned earlier there is a new Klipsch La Scala. It is the model AL5.
Horns: Why don't they image well? I was told that the new LaScala III will have a new tweeter and also have upgraded internal wiring (Audioquest?). Price is 10K? Can't confirm the accuracy of this, nothing is on the Klipsch website.
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what? Horn speakers do not need tube amplification to sound great. Both the Avantgarde and the Klipsch sound just as good with solid state as they do with tubes.
Best Recording of Scheherazade The sound a live classical orchestra makes is indeed awesome. No stereo system playing any recording, analog or digital, comes even close.
Do I need higher quality power cords? I'm sure Audio Research will be glad to know that their Reference 10 preamp has an inadequate power supply since it responds dramatically to different power cords. Perhaps we should petition the company to fire the designers. Where do people com...
Do I need higher quality power cords? Excellent post by MrD. I agree totally.
Any Zesto Leto 1.5 owners here? One other point. Never even consider rolling tubes until your new Zesto gear breaks in. That means at least 600 hours of play. I wouldn't try different tubes, if that is your intention, until the 1000 hour mark.
Disappointed w/ Klipsch Heresy III. Now what? Horn speakers are not, by design, very bright. The Avantgarde and Klipsch horns I have used have no brightness at all. Horns are very revealing of system flaws. As the saying goes "garbage in garbage out". And remember horns magnify everything...
Any Zesto Leto 1.5 owners here? I have owned the Zesto phono stages as well as the excellent sounding Leto 1.0 preamp. I do not suggest rolling tubes. You get a different sound, not better. Zesto designed their equipment around the stock tubes. I tried different tubes, all r...
Vandersteen 3A Sigs vs Klipsch Forte III Most won't believe it but the La Scala is the best imaging speaker on the planet, IMHO. The depth that the speaker creates is just uncanny. Like a mini monitor, the speaker totally disappears. But unlike a small monitor the scale is so big, dyna... |
