How does one get off the merry-go-round? Dgplo, yes you can find your power cord on the merry-go-round. Congradulations on your accomplishments
Why does my system sound better?? I think the answer here might be that after components are on for a while, the circuits stabilize, they reach their optimum operating temperature & the sound will usually change for the better, could be for the worse. It may be you like the so...
Preamps ... no bass or treble control? I'm aware that if you invest enough money into your gear, the sound quality reaches such a degree that tone controls are an unnecessary circuit that would ultimately degrade the signal, I've been there. It is also true that preamps with tone contr...
Preamps ... no bass or treble control? I think Bigjoe is right. Although I own a tube preamp without any tone controls (just volume) & have had many other high end preamps of the same design, I also own one with them. I have a B&K PT3 that has bass & treble settings but the...
B&K preamp/tuners..... I currently still use a B&K PT3 as an alternative to a tube preamp. Mine has a solid gold color faceplate & it has the look of a well built preamp. There are no mechanical knobs on this unit to wear out & the sound is sweet, detailed, ...
Anyone using an Audio Mirror T61 pre? Yours truely, I have owned both. The TAD 150 uses two 12AU7s, 12AX7s, or 12AT7s and has solid state rectification as where the T-61 uses two 6DJ8s (6922s) and has a tube for rectification. I will not say one is better than the other because they a...
Suddenly, things are sounding awful... Maybe your system is haunted! Just kidding, on the more serious side it could be that as your tube breaks in, it will extend itself more in the high frequencies, changing the whole sound. Consider a different tube that has warmer characteristics.
The most emotional amp out there? My guess is you mean the most emotionally involving amp? Other components will of course contribute greatly but my vote would be for the McCormacks with revisions & the Deluxe models.
Anyone using an Audio Mirror T61 pre? I owned the T-61 before & it is one superb sounding tube preamp, right up there with the best. Wish I never sold it!
has anyone heard the nuforce amplifiers In regards to the Nuforce amps, another fix for the RFI tuner interference is to use a coax cable (same cable used by the cable TV company) on your tuner connected to outside antenna. This will take care of this issue period.
How does one get off the merry-go-round? I agree with Hbarrel's post as well, very well put! I am taking a hard look at what I'm trying to do and staying with a good simple system, I must conclude as well, is the ticket to get focused on the music, not the gear.
McCormack DNA 125 amp-speaker match Vandersteen or Klipsch.
Preamp for Mccormack 0.5 mono Paul29, I think the RLD1 is an excellent choice for your monos (your very fortunate to own them), eliminating the possibility they would not have any synergy together, plus it comes with a remote. I have enjoyed over the years using the McCormack ...
Preamp for Mccormack 0.5 mono The Tube Audio Design TAD 150 (current model) sounds good on McCormack amps. Also many people feel an Audible Illusions tube preamp is a good match. I personally prefer solid state preamps with the McCormacks.
Review: TAD (TubeAudioDesign) TAD 150 Signature Tube preamp The Build quality of the TAD 150 is top notch & I like the fact that both tubes glow behind their prospective windows, a very nice touch! I don't think any stone was left unturned in its design, a beautifully constructed preamp! But in this ca... |
