options for 2.1 sound
Check out the B&K PT-3. It is a 2.1 remote controlled preamp, inexpensive on the used market and sounds very good! Has full range, high pass, and subwoofer outputs. Much better sounding than the Adcom.
Cable Break-in....again?
Shadorne, you could be very well correct in regards to the subject of breaking in cabling. If I understand you correctly your suggesting that if there is anything breaking in at all it would be the components & not the cables. Since most quali...
Cable Break-in....again?
It could be delusional to think that cables are the only part of a system that does not require break-in, but we know for sure that audio components in themselves do require this break-in period. Audio components have traces on circuit boards for ...
Cable Break-in....again?
Another point might be that used cables that were once burned in on the original components may have to be re-burned in on whatever gear they are now connected to so that the electrons can optimize & maximize their signal transfer between thes...
Lightning Has Struck
I was at a local hifi shop in which a customer brought in an amp that was hit by a lightening strike. The service tech there told the customer that in more likelyhood he would need to replace the transformer. Could apply to the preamp as well.
Does one NEED multiple amps?
How about one amp for each day of the week? Sound intense, maybe put one in the bathroom and rig it to play music everytime you take a leak. In reality having a backup amp in case of an amp emergency can give you some peace of mind.
Listening Fatique- componet or speaker issue.
Daimbert, there are some audiophiles that may treat the room to get the desired sound and that is fine & dandy if you know what your doing. Personally I select gear, interconnects, power cords etc. that will work within the existing room acous...
Listening Fatique- componet or speaker issue.
You should be careful of first impressions. Generally systems that impress right off the bat can sometimes be difficult to live with in the long haul. I prefer products that gradually impress & start showing their stuff off as time goes on.
WILSON PICKETT- R.I.P.
A terrible loss! Soul brother No.# 2 as he was often refered to. No one could do Mustang Sally like Wilson Pickett, not even the Young Rascals!
How long do speakers last?
If they are exposed to direct sunlight it can damage the rubber or foam surround and or if not kept in dry storage can reduce their life expectancy. Otherwise they can last for a very long time.
Eastern Electric Tubed CD player: Good Value??
Giant Killers! The Minimax preamp is one of those little known products that once audiophiles find out how good it really is, it will be hard to find one for sale. Further if the Minimax preamp is an indicator on how good the rest of the product l...
Please help....
The seller in the USA has to have an account with FedEx to ship ground to Canada. However FedEx Air is a different matter, although UPS does not require the seller in the USA to have an account period to ship to Canada.
Will power conditioning really help?
Absolutely yes! I have used a power conditioner for a few years and the improvement is very audible. I would like to mention that some gear for example like digital amps can benefit even more from power conditioning. On the other hand I have read ...
Merry Christmas Everyone
Been playing Christmas tunes for the past 3 days continously & looking forward to a great Christmas dinner with the family. Merry Christmas, love & peace to all Audiogoners!
Review: Tube Audio Design TAD-60 Tube amp
Jbslibsl, I have four large Klipsch CF4s. For a tube preamp I am currently using an ARC MKII Reference II and I intend on pairing this expensive preamp with a TAD 60. I had a TAD 150 & regretably let it go thinking I would pick up the Signatur...
