I've Fallen in Love With My Mistress
Mitch4T, you are not cheating. Your an audiophile first who has discovered or rediscoverd another enjoyable media, movies. Music can transport you back in time but a good movie is an excellent distraction from daily routines. You can enjoy both mu...
Tube Amp Hum
In addition to the above mentioned, does a cable TV box share the same outlet or AC line? Also are your interconnects unshielded? Is your preamp tube or solid state? I purchased a new tube rectified preamp a while back to use on a solid state powe...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase
Tom_hankins sounds like you have the ideal relationship with your wife! You know wife deception may be a more sensitive issue with some and not others. I will give an example: A while back an audiogon member had his amp listed for sale along with ...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase
Does hiding major audio purchases from your wife constitute a form of cheating? Maybe she has hid some purchases from you. If so, possibly your marriage certificate isn't worth the paper its printed on. I always clear a major audio purchase with h...
The passing of Marianne Barber of Joule Electra
Yes, a terrible loss for her family and the audio community. God bless.
Amazingly Close to Krell Sound
I seemed to have misplaced my Krell tube amp. Has anyone seen it?
Most resolving, transparent amps.
I think a good analogy of the term transparency would be the difference between looking through a dirty window as opposed to one that is extremely clean. In audio, I believe transparency is when the music's natural acoustics, ambience/reverberatio...
Aragon 4004 - Load Capacity Question
One final thought here. After owning both the Aragon 4004 and 8008 I oberserved the 4004 having a better, more fuller midrange, but the 8008 had better bass.
Amazingly Close to Krell Sound
I beleive the McCormacks will have better bass than the Aragons although both are very good amps in their own way. I know one reviewer compared the DNA-1 very favorably to a Krell amp but admittingly gave the Krell amp the final nod for having sta...
Am I going crazy or?
Mrtennis, I'm starting to feel better. Yes I care what other audiophiles think & do even if it doesn't always make sense which would include your thoughts as well. Cmon now, don't you feel better posting here?
Am I going crazy or?
This is an interesting thread. It appears to be a buyers market but regardless what some sellers may think their item is worth they will refuse to sell for less than what they paid for it used and will sit on it. Another thing to consider is that ...
How to evaluate preamps?
I have a very simple method of evaluating preamps____by ear and what sounds good to me with the associated gear. Unfortunately no home electronics can come close to live as Skushino mentioned. Even with the preamp removed you still are dealing wit...
Aragon 4004 - Load Capacity Question
The Aragon 4004 MKII is one of those great audio bargains that is tough to beat. Currently I use one driving a 4 ohm load and it does very well. It will get quite warm (driving 4 ohms) if played at higher volumes but it has never shut down. Its mo...
McCormack DNA-1 or DNA-1 deluxe?
Yes there is enough difference between the DNA-1 & DNA-1 Deluxe to warrant spending the extra $150.00-$200.00. If you decide to upgrade to revision B it will cost you $500.00 less if you have the Deluxe DNA-1.
McCormack DNA-1 vs Odyssey Stratus vs Marsh 400
The McCormack amps produce a wider soundstage then Odyssey amps and have more headroom for driving difficult loads. I wouldn't leave out the Aragon 4004 MKII either, a very good sounding amp (dual mono) that has power and soundstaging capabilities...
