Anybody into 80s big music?
The Outfield...perfect! Asia! Always liked Charlie Sexton...beats so lonely.. Bit more new wave...but early 80s had some overlap genres
Anybody into 80s big music?
"Big Music" was a term applied to 80s music that was a bit heavy handed at times (passionate), gated drums, chorus heavy, guitar/keyboard driven rock...it was a sub genre of what was then called college rock in the mid 80s... Which a precursor to ...
Enhancing my B&W 683s
Just be careful when attempting to monkey with performance. This can negatively resale value down the road. I look at external factors such as placement, speaker wire, etc.
Best Rock Album of 2015
PIL....Lydon's best in years...solid band...Johnny doing his Brit spoiled egg routine over dub, electronic, and other beats
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Raymond nailed it! As far as Yes goes... My college newspaper had a one word review of them in the 80s...No!
Help me decide – Revel or Focal
My dealer has both. Revel is my vote.
Rock: well recorded bass...60s/70s
Can't go wrong with Marley or Tosh for quality low end...and remember...its never the recording...its your system! Lol
It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
Don't worry, Bieber is a flash in the pan teen star, who won't even be a footnote in 40. To each his own, but I have owned over 2k Lps, none of which were Springsteen's. Nebraska would be the one if I broke down.

If I ever hear "Glory Days" again I will probably choke on my own vomit. Horrid.
It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
The only bands that ever truly mattered were Ramones, Saints, Pistols. For a moment, they brought back the simplicity of 50s/6Os style music, albeit in a hi-octane form which was very exciting.
It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
Never dug the populist agenda of the Boss. Born to run a was overly dramatic, Born in the USA overproduced. I will concede "Pink Vadillac" which is a great single.
My Revel F30s
F30s are great speakers. I find their imaging to be excellent. Speaker technology has not made any quantum leaps in the last 15 years.
Bose 901's with "highend ancillaries"??
I was never that impressed with 901s...like some have mentioned...bloated bass and virtually no treble extension...some prefer this type of "dark" sound...personally I wouldn't bother with them on the used market...much better products to be had.....
MMG Placement
Agree, those speakers will get "lost" in a room that size with very little bass.
looking for a recording with nice wide soundstage
