The first watts Note...I wouldn't be too concerned about this...a friend has a switchable A to A/B amp and the differences were nominal...although "golden ear" types will push pure class A...the irony...the majority of normal listening requires very little power....
Advice from apartment dwellers I assume since one pays a premium price for NYC real estate that there are space restraints...that being said...a bookself or small floorstander can yield good results...the real issue is volume and that depends on your taste and your neighbors......
The first watts I used to have a full class a amp that one could cook a steak on. I didn't feel the marginal benefits were worth the price, weight, and excessive heat.
Revel F208s, F52s or Nola Contenders? Have to add that all things being equal the quality of the recording really can determine the level of transparency which equates to speakers disappearing. I have never heard Silverline described as "boxy" and would agree that sounds like a sales ...
Will the sound quality deminish over the years? Hate to be a buzzkill...but FM frequency cuts out @ 15 kHz...so the improvements attributed to the Nad are largely imaginative...that said, its a very good tuner.
Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways an HBO documentary We need Dave to come to Minneapolis...prince, soul asylum, Husker du, replacements, run Westy run , cows, babes in toyland, atmosphere, etc
Pioneer SX 1050 Recommended Speakers Vintage hi powered Pioneer receivers tend to be a bit overly warm and bass heavy...which is why I would recommend a modern mini monitor type since you have space constraints....all the vintage lushness associated with Pioneer with the speed, artic...
similar speakers To hardcore audiophile (which I am not)...there are no similiarities between products...every piece of equipment is different...even the same model from different production run...we are talking people who encase turntables in concrete, stay home ...
Does JBL get a bad rap? Similiar to planar speakers..."they have no bass!"...once a speaker gets a bad reputation, its hard to shake...and the same applies to JBL...ironically they supply most of movie house sound systems....and nobody has complaints with that!...On the ...
Best Cheap Speakers - New or Old Also..B&w 610 or older 6xx series from 90s..these are kind of old school 2-way 8 inch models...large by today's standards...but I always have like the full sound/scale of this design...they do require stands...and are unbeatable on the used ma...
Paradigm speakers Would have to agree...the Studio 20s were a solid choice at $600 years back...at close to twice that now...that is a very competitive price point...one is in range of Vandersteen, Magnepan, etc...I have been less enthralled with their entry offeri...
Why blind listening tests are flawed I'm all for blind tests...the opposition is coming from hi-end makers, publications, etc...they have nothing to gain against lower cost competition...if they win...they were supposed to...lose, there goes bragging rights and their business....
Best Cheap Speakers - New or Old Anybody familiar with JBL 830/940T series from late 80s?...
Best Cheap Speakers - New or Old Although a budget mass consumer product in the early 90s...Jbl j830m seems like a dinosaur in today's mini monitor world..large, three way standmount with 8" driver=real clean bass(ruler flat)...surprising open but slightly forward midrange...thes...
Best Cheap Speakers - New or Old Bbro...as a former Spica owner I can attest to your frustration...as you touched upon...they do image well...often in reach out and touch 3d realism...however they have two glaring faults...non-existent bass and limited treble highs...an audiophil... |
