Any comparison between Audes/Gershman/Triangle?
Triangles are all about speed, detail, and refinement...for box speakers...they are very transparent and image very well...however...their low end lacks impact...and sounds a bit hollow...very similiar to hi end Monitor Audio...if you are moving awa...
Dynaudio and Nikko, a good match?
Agree with Newbee...the Danes are great speakers at their price points...especially the AUdience 42/52...however they are very demanding on power(4 ohms),and very revealing of source material(poor recordings)...I believe Nikko is no longer made......
Here's a "must have" for you female vocalists fans
I also thinK Macy Gray has a killer voice! Her new one is coming to SACD...
Massive Attack fans....
Yes...I have the Mad Professor's remixes entitled "No Protection"...and they are far and away more stimulating than the original ones...but to be fair..."Protection" is Massive Attack's weakest album....BUt "Mezzanine" is a monster of an album...r...
Does a good monitor produce a compressed sound?
ALso...soundstage varies from speaker to speaker...maybe what you are hearing from the Axioms is simply on a "smaller scale"...which is often the case with small monitors...and which might be confused for a "compressed" sound in relation to your f...
Does a good monitor produce a compressed sound?
All things being equal...a monitor should image better than a floorstander due to less reflection off the smaller enclosure(difraction)...however...imaging is very placement critical...decent speakers will create a focused "phantom center image".....
Round Two: Best Speakers for LOUD music and rock??
For vintage speakers(and for that matter new)...Ohm has a loyal following...and for good reason...they are about as boxless as one can get...you would be surprised at how many Hi-End employees have or have had Ohm speakers in their current or past...
Size Matters
For this application...time aligned speakers...such as small floorstanders from Meadowlark,Vandersteen and Thiel might be the ticket...their slanted baffle design projects sound upwards...and thus the whole soundstage is elevated without the speak...
Speaker tweak
Devils advocate...but would a quality enclosure....such as a low resonating design on most 1-2k level speakers...really require sand bags? I would think at this level most of these "anomalies" would have been addressed by the speaker designer...an...
Speakers that sound like Thiels on steroids.
I would say higher end Revel...they are very revealing like THiels...but with outstanding bass qualities...they are pricey...but then again...thiels aint cheap either...
Box speakers that sound like Electrostats?
I do like Vandies...and they are very open sounding...however...they do lack the speed of ELSs and even other conventional designs in their price range...but this is highly subjective...it comes down to what music you enjoy and what trade-offs u c...
Jethro Tull recent Remasters vs Mobile Fidelity?
what JT album has those lyrics?...maybe I can be converted...still not a fan of flutes...but hey...there is room for everything...cant we all get along?
Jethro Tull recent Remasters vs Mobile Fidelity?
LIghtin' up folks...dont take this stuff too seriously...I was just stirring up the pot a bit...but my opinion still remains...enjoy! Im sure my collection has selections that would raise an eyebrow or 2...also...i dont have a musical bone in my b...
whatz up with hi-end speakers near walls?
Seantaylor99 said it more eloquently than I...and if I came across as antagonistic that was not the intent...I am just baffled some of the recent placement posts...no need for me to get my undies in a bundle.....I will get off my soapbox...
Subwoofers: Inexpensive Hsu vs REL
Havent heard Hsu...but REL makes one the most musical subs I have ever come across...and there are very few...Sunfire is another...Hsu is a mail order outfit...so doing an a/b m against REL is next to impossible...they do get great reveiws though....
