Great musical CDP? Both definitions, one and two below, would seem to make the disputed application of "musical" acceptable.#1 suggests it need not produce music. Being of or pertaining to is sufficient. #2 However successfully it accomplishes the task, what comes o...
New Focal Grande Utopia EM This is the Utopia III catalogue if anyone is interested. http://www.focal.tm.fr/catalogue-docs/EN/32/files/1826.pdf
3 Hour Warm-up? Thanks guys, I guess that's just how it is.Polk 432, I can empathize with the heat your Cary's are putting out. Same here, and of course, as circumstances mandate, my system is set up in the warmest room in the house.
Great musical CDP? I can recommend the Modwright Sony 9100ES with Platinum Signature Truth Mods. Very musical, great vocals, and if you're really into classical, you shouldn't dismiss its SACD capability IMHO.
First SACD to Listen To? Wow!!! Thanks for heads-up on "Sea Change" (SACD) guys. I'm listening to it for the first time as I write. Not cheap these days but well worth every penny.
How much power is to much power? While we're waiting for some of Audiogon's more technically astute members to respond, I can tell you that based on my experiences, the 91db specification doesn't tell the whole story when determining amplifier compatibility. Your speakers impedan...
Recommend Classical Piano LP's This might not be your typical audiophile stuff, but for years now, Scott Cossu's "Reunion" cd has been transporting me to that special tranquility place. It features piano, cello and some beautiful melodies.
Power conditioning v re-generation; Shunyata v. PS "What could possibly be wrong with 20 amps and 200 watts of virgin AC newly created from DC?"Im sorry, that should have read "2000" watts.
Power conditioning v re-generation; Shunyata v. PS "If the PS unit is producing new power from its battery - why do they recommend that I upgrade the power cord from the wall to the unit ? It would seem to not matter what is going in since it is totally re-created as new power from the battery. An...
New Fuse Thread . . . Point taken Tbg. I wasn't really talking about small, super high end manufactures like Lamm Industries or Shindo Labs... They operate in quite a different reality than an engineer for Sony.
New Fuse Thread . . . "If engineers are so "all knowing," why don't they employ point to point wiring, black gate caps, Teflon caps in the signal path, OFC copper RCA and XLR jacks, OFC speaker lugs, high quality AC cords, NOS tubes and so on?"Engineers laugh at "overb...
Best Integrated, period. Like David12, I'm also very impressed with the Viva Solista. My friend has his paired with 86bd efficient speakers in a decent size room, but his listening is pretty much limited to small ensemble jazz and classical. With speakers rated in the mid...
Which tube cd player do you like I'm enjoying the Modwright Sony 9100ES with Platinum Signature Truth Mod. I haven't heard all of the other cdp's mentioned above but, for me, the Modwright satisfies to the degree that I don't feel a need to. FWIW.
Help me decide on cryo option. I bought the regular Winged Cs and FWIW, the person I talked with on the phone didn't recommend the cryo'd version. In fact, in his opinion, the only benefit that he could discern is that the cryo process "weeds out the weak". But as usual, I'm su...
Help me decide on cryo option. Thank you for responding. Thorman - This is the first time I've heard about the additional warmth factor. Has this been your experience with audio cryogenics in general; Geoffkait's impression is more typical of what I've heard.Tvad - As Geoffkait... |
