Favorite Tribute Albums?
Cinnamon Girl, a recording supporting breast cancer education featured women artists covering Neil Young. My favorite track is a poignant one now–Jill Sobule, who just died, does a very cool version of "Down by the River" with John Doe of X. https...

Cool, thank you @gano and @mofimadness. I'll keep throwing change in the bank and watch for a VPI or others listed here.

In light of what @dekay said, I noticed the Fluance RT85 with an ortofon blue cartridge and a 3-lb acrylic platter. A reviewer swapped in a moving coil and liked it every way. Anyone hear those or have an opinion? Thanks again for all the advice.

Thank you @dekay . I have seen that companies offer basic levels and those might be better than the music hall. It's clear that getting to upgradable level is significant pricewise. Happy listening.

Thank you for the recommendation @helomech . Do you know about the various MK versions?

@rmdmoore You are sort of asking my question in reverse. Thank you for that, and I'm not sure how to answer. I'm not primarily using vinyl as a source,  but I am curious to know what it would take to have better analog input. Nothing in my current...

Thank you, @dmk_calgary and @mswale . They do look pricey, but beautiful. And hunting for a bargain is part of the fun, right? ☮️

Thank you for the suggestion and for the comment on my room/system. I'll take a look at the VPI and the tube phone pre👍🏻
Does loudness play a part in your appreciation?
I've sat in the booths a tiny bar with a jazz big band taking up the entire floor. It was amazing, but if I played my system at that kind of volume it would seem crazy loud—even though my living room is larger than that bar. I think the microcosm ...
Gain level on a REL sub
I have a single REL T2 (8" driver+ 10" radiator). 10'x15' room. I can barely turn on the gain knob or the bass is overwhelming. The notes about the phase switch and placement seem best. You can also play with the crossover point to put it higher s...

@nkeler Nathan, would you mind sharing the name of the music journal app you use?
The Sacred Ritual of Vinyl: A Return to Mindful Listening
Thank you for the beautiful description of mindful listening. I appreciate you bringing the poetic nature of intentional listening to the forum. Lots of good points in the comments,  but none with your eloquence! Bravo.
What are your go to LP's for evaluating new gear or new tubes?
@rudd2004 thanks for the recommendation for Masterpieces! Sound is gorgeous (I'm listening on Tidal through a Marantz 8b), and the story of the recording is fascinating. For anyone else who's interested: https://slate.com/culture/2014/12/duke-elli...
Why did you purchase the equipment you have and what do you like most about it?
This is a fun topic. Thank you to everyone who shared their inspiration and outcome. As I read so many people talking about dealers, it reminded me of the used hi-fi shop where I went to buy a stereo for my first apartment (late 70s). I was asking...
