Need help w/ B&W CM2
That's kinda what I thought, can't polish a turd, but I thought a less resolving amp would allow certain recordings to be played without gritting ones teeth. Call it the 'aiwa' effect as those little 3 piece systems could play anything. Any commen...
Need help w/ B&W CM2
Audiobugged- I will definatly try the cable/interconnect route, but I want to change the amp first then fine tune. I'm looking for changes that a non-audiophile friend would notice right away. Ellery911- Great suggestions, I've never even heard of...
Dynaudio 52se - best integrated amp at low volume?
Sim Audio I5. It's slightly forward nature is a must for dyn's. It will help open up the soundstage. Don't worry, they have plenty of power for the room size, and going by the results from the aragon, power isn't the problem. If you look around yo...
Pre-Amp Problem Opinions Please
Are you sure it's hooked up properly? Also check to see if you have a tape/rec button on the pre. When this is depressed you will only get normal volume when you are recording a tape.
Are Sub-woofers really for music?
I'd get a small sub with no bigger then a 10in woofer, and preferably an 8in. Your speakers start to roll off around 100hz and thats really when your sub should start to kick in, not at 60hz, in order to get a nice flat responce. You also don't wa...
dynaudio or M & k for home theater
The reason wilson sounds like dynaudio is b/c wilson uses dynaudio drivers. I use the 1.8's and contour center up front and the integration is seemless. I don't know what keithr is talking about, the quality and craftsmanship of the center channel...
How much can low-fi subwoofer bring down a system?
I use a phase tech power 10 100 watt sub to help out my dynaudio 1.8's when watching movies only. The 1.8's actually go lower but i use the sub to add a bit of oomph in the 35-55 area. I have the hi frequency crossover set to 65 and the gain turne...
Dynaudio and Nikko, a good match?
100db out of bookshelf speakers is pretty loud, you should be fine on power.
home theater help
Sunfire probably makes the most 'tube-like' hometheater gear, and they just recently came out with an all in one reciever. I'd pick that up and save a ton of $$$ since 2ch seems your main priority.
HELP Why no bass? Why bright?
one last thing, if you do move to the wharfedale keep your DH labs silver cables, a bright cable will be a good fit with a laid back speaker like these.
HELP Why no bass? Why bright?
Ok, looking at your current equipment and needs I'd recommend the Wharfedale Pacific Evo 300. It's Bi-wireable so you can bi-amp, has a soft dome tweeter so no harsh brightness, and has tight defined bass. It's also a damn good looking speaker IMH...
Arcam FMJ P-35 3 Ch for HT ? Opinions please.
I've read many good things about bryston though I have never actually listened to one. It's strengths tend towards bass and the only complaints I've read about are a slight forward nature. Assuming you are still using the MA 8i's and PS audio amp ...
Dynaudio and Nikko, a good match?
I've got the dynaudio 42's mated to the NAD 340 and it's a very punchy combo indeed, and might be just the sound you are looking for. The 52's might even be better since it uses a larger woofer and cabinet. I don't know much about the Nikko amp bu...
Arcam FMJ P-35 3 Ch for HT ? Opinions please.
Per Joe Hagman from Home Theater Magazine, B&K is great with Monitor Audio. You should try to get a good fit with the center since it's the most important. I think the ST-125.3 and the reference 200.3 are their current 3 channel amps. If you a...
HELP Why no bass? Why bright?
B&W makes bright speakers, the arcam 65 is a bit laid back and was probably covering up for them. I think you have the right idea on the bass being more controlled or perhaps the brightness is just distracting you. I'd switch to speakers that ...
