Why is everyone so down on MQA? I'm not so sure about that. A good example is the video tape format war. Betamax was the vastly superior format yet it lost of the inferior VHS. WFT? Maybe it was only superior with the PAL system and there was very little benefit with NTSC. Years...
Why is everyone so down on MQA? Perhaps we should be asking the doomsdayers what did you use to decode MQA that led you to your conclusion, or are you merely guilty jumping on the derogative bandwagon because you're a theorist and that's all theorists are capable of doing?
Why is everyone so down on MQA? Radio Paradise had two channels. One plays 16/44 and the other plays MQA and for the life of me, I can’t hear the difference. I can, but then my Bluesound has been fitted with a DC power card and I have an overkill external power supply (5 amp...
Why is everyone so down on MQA? You guys crack me up! So the theory proves it must sound dreadful. The truth is it's both good and bad. Extremely bad in the recording studio, and particularly good for the end listener. Perhaps with one caveat; only for those that don't bother ...
Soundstage drastically worsened when I replaced a solid state AV amp with tubes. All tubes do is add harmonic distortion (the so called warm sound), so I'm not surprised it doesn't sound as good.
The best plug in filter ever! Anyone know what's inside these things? A magic elixir?
The revolution has begun! I'm very impressed with the quality of music I'm hearing with my Mini GaN 5 Power Amplifier.

VPI turntables If you are going to achieve a significant improvement as has been claimed, I'd suggest there would have to something drastically wrong to get that level of benefit. At best you'd likely achieve a minor improvement. Before you even considering upg...
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital? "An album with DR 6 doesn't necessarily sound overtly bad. And an album with DR 12 doesn't necessarily sound good (but the DR isn't to be blamed at least). For rock/metal a DR of 8 and above is considered okay. Electronic music can still sound oka...
Has anyone been able to define well or measure differences between vinyl and digital? Is there really any proof that remasters have compressed dynamic range (the so called loudness war)? Is it just a mostly baseless term intended to invoke an emotion? I'm specifically excluding music (and I use that term loosely) intended for drug...
Bad Cornwall IV? Good to hear you solved the issue. Just goes to demonstrate that good physical connections are just as important as everything else.
Amp pairing with Tannoy Turnberry? I like that it includes a ground terminal. Anyone know what it grounds? The absolute best is to ground the speaker's frame plus the front and rear plates.
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference? audioquest Dragon XLR might be worth considering. Overview Not only is Dragon the best interconnect audioquest has ever made, it’s quite possibly the best the world has ever seen or heard. With its ultimate combination of world-class material...
I need an Audio Detective erik_squires Sounds like RF interference. I want to point out though that this isn't much of a problem unless you like to keep your gear warmed up. Distance, shielded interconnects and shielded power cables are the usual solutions. Awhile b... |
