Integrated SS amps - Luxman vs. Simaudio Moon?
I think the risk of buying sight unseen is minimal if you do your research. Accuphase, Luxman, Blue Circle and Verity are all can't miss / highly reputabl brands IMO. Personally, I would hold out for a good used pair of Verity's (olderParsifals) a...
Harbeth SHL5 vs 40.1
Good for you!!! I'd be surprised if you don't love them. Looking forward to hearing back from you once they are set up.I have mine approx. 5.5' off the front wall (wall to grill) and about 6' apart (inside to inside) and toe'd in approx. 15 degrees.
Integrated SS amps - Luxman vs. Simaudio Moon?
Between the two, Luxman would be my only consideration. My brief stint in owning Sim amps was disappointing.
Changing to bookshelf speakers. Recommendations?
Based upon your last post, Harbeth SHL5's should be on your short list.
Harbeth SHL5 vs 40.1
My room is 21' x 15' with short 6-7 foot ceiling. The 40.1's work quite well, but my room is heavily treated. Your 19' x 17' with high ceilings should be fine, but I highly recommend adding some acoustical panels (GIK Acoustic 244 panels are inexp...
Harbeth SHL5 vs 40.1
I've not heard the SHL5's, but I own the 40.1's and love them. Your Cary amp & pre will work fine with the 40.1's. How large is your room?
Changing to bookshelf speakers. Recommendations?
Consider adding Dynaudio C1's or C3's to your list.

What amplifier for Harbeth HL-5?
Bassoon - What amp will you be using with your 40.1's, and does the rest of your system consist of? I'm currently using a Plinius SA-102 Class A solid state amp with the Calypso preamp with NOS tubes.
Zu or Harbeth
Samhar - I'd say the 40.1's excel in being very well balanced speakers, in that they are good at everything... and I would describe their sound as palpable, organic, rich (without sounding syrupy) and full bodied. Micro dynamics and decay are exce...
Speaker suggestions
Harbeth's sound really nice at low to moderate volume levels... as much as I have enjoyed my many experiences with Dynaudio speakers, they really need the volume turned up to sound their best.
Zu or Harbeth
I think you'd love the 40.1's... I sure do. I can't speak to the sound of the Zu's, as I have never heard them, however, while I like that they are very efficient, I am turned off by the way they look (I know many would say the same about the 1970...
How quite is the Aesthetix Calypso Vs Bat VK3i
I think you'd be wasting your money if you plan to use the Calypso with stock tubes. Suggest you look at alternatives / older preamps from Audio Research & Conrad Johnson, or the Joule preamps. I'm just not a fan of BAT gear, although my exper...
Sedonix
I had my AA Capitole repaired by my local tech in St. Louis (Zaw Win @ Alpha Tech). Replaced the Phillips transport and the mini tubes... completed the work in two weeks with no issues. I'd be worried if I were you... sorry.
How quite is the Aesthetix Calypso Vs Bat VK3i
Agree verbatim with Dopogue's comments. My Calypso is superior to my previous preamps (BAT VK30 & Joule LA-150 MKII). However, good NOS tubes are required to make the Calypso sing... think Amperex white label 6922's & Mullard CV-4004 in th...
