Marantz BD7003 + CA 840 C dac - or - Oppo 95
Pokey77: I owned a Marantz BD7003 for a few years as my first Blu-ray player and loved it. I did upgrade this year to the UD5005 which is reported to have improved audio circuitry with a shorter signal path and upgraded DACs. To me the video quali...
New Rotel RCD-1520
Well it's Sun evening and I've had the player now 3 days running for numerous hours. It's sounding better by the minute!! Bass is tight but yet has punch which I like (I'm a bass player). Sound-stage is pronunced and in your face. The highest of f...
Best vibration isolation device for cd player?
Yes Vibrapods for the money. Have been using them for years and absolutely flawless. From time to time you have to heat them in the oven on a cookie sheet as instructed to reinflate but it's so easy. Nothing to it.
Pre Pro advice. NAD T 187 or??
Finsup, wasn't aware NAD AVRs did this. Wow, doesn't sound appealing. How long ago was this known about NAD AVRs do you know? NAD sure has had their share of QA issues over the years. It's really too bad but I believe they're stable now. I love my...
Advice re: Entry level CD Player
Go with the NAD unit. I have an NAD unversal player and it is stupendous. If you can pick up a preowned NAD 565BEE for $500.00, go for it. This is their top of the line of their standard issue CD players not the reference units.
Pre Pro advice. NAD T 187 or??
First you can't go wrong with a high end NAD product such as this. At this price level, you'll get a SUPERB unit. I too love the NAD sound. However, you may want to consider the Rotel RSP-1572 surround sound processor which I believe lists at $2,1...
Which Would You Choose?
Mceljo:Just something to be aware of so you're not under the wrong impression and I've stated this before in other posts. If you look at Marantz surround sound AVRs, the power specs are misleading. Take a another look at the SR6006 specifications....
NAD M5 died with op.59 No.3
How old is your M5? In general, NAD's quality control has not been stellar over the past say 10 years or so in particular their disc players. They've had their share of product problems. I know I've been a victim myself. I love the NAD sound and i...
BluRay Player Recommendation
I recommend the Marantz UD5005. Fabulous player. Just got mine about one month ago. Terrific.
best way to sell???
Audiogon is THE site to sell high end audio, hands down. It's very well managed and works!! Yes I agree with all of Todd's input. Well done. I would add that you should post several photos of the unit showing its front, rear panel, etc. Be totally...
Fourplay Foreplay...
I'm a fan of Fourplay as I am of Coltrane, Blakey, Horace Silver, Miles, the Crusaders, Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, etc. Jazz music is an art of improvisation. I recommend you read the book "The History of Jazz" by Ted Gioia. Excelle...
Blu-Ray, SACD & NetFlix player?
The Marantz UD-5005 for one. Just purchased mine last week and love it. Today I got the Youtube feature working and it's a great plus. Didn't purchase this for the Youtube feature alone but mostly for playing Blu-ray discs and concert DVDs. Audio ...
Marantz SA-8400
Folks, as I've posted in previous threads, this unit actually doesn't have it all. It's missing a major feature within SACD. It will only play 2 channel SACDs and not multi-channel. If you listen to music strictly in 2 channel and upgrade to SACDs...
Blu ray and DVD-A 5.1 Remasters
I am thoroughly enjoying my multi-channel SACDs. I've got TOTO IV on right now (Rosanna, Africa, etc) in remastered multi-channel SACD over my Rotel/NAD/B&W 5.1 system and it is simply magnificent. Love multi-channel SACDs. I have a few Blu-ra...
SONY still makes SACD Player?- Any 5400ES update?
Good thread. One point I'd like to make on this. While the Marantz SA8004 is a fantastic unit with many accolades and actually just got named "Source of the Year" in Jan 2012 issue of TAS, it only plays stereo SACDs and not multi-channel. That gre...
