Legacy audio manufacturers
Hey thanks to Arnettpartners and Stereo5 for their replies and information. Actually after my original KLHs, I purchased a brand new pair of AR17 bookshelf speakers and absolutely loved them. Remember those? I'm sorry I meant to write Optonica and...
cd player that forgives bad cd recordings
I can tell you one brand NOT to go with for playing CD-Rs and the like is NAD. I love NAD products and have some in my system now and in past years but it has been my experience that NAD players don't do well with these types of discs. Rotel on th...
Question on the Integra DHC 40.2 Pre-Pro
Marty, thanks again. Well with your invaluable input, I purchased the DHC 40.2 and should have it next week. THANKS again and I'll comment on it once it's all set up and percolating. I'm studying the manual now in advance. Wow how can one machine ...
Topnotch BluRay Concert.....
I love all of my Blu-ray DVD concerts but if I had to vote on one, it would no question be Stevie Wonder "Live at Last". On a solid HT system, this is a PHENOMONAL concert. TURN IT UP !!!
Question on the Integra DHC 40.2 Pre-Pro
Marty, thanks for the explanation. I guess I need to learn much more about Audyssey as I've never had that function. I've always done loudspeaker balancing myself using a dB meter but there must be much more to Audyssey than just the initial setup...
Do preamp processors produce a slight hum .
Just taking a wild guess. Do you have one or more sub-woofers and if so, could it be eminating from them? I have two subs and had a hum problem until I went with Audioquest sub-woofer cables which have ground wire horseshoe connections. You simply...
advice pls - upgrading a rotel rsp1066 processor
Eyrdkill: Interesting you should bring this up. I'm in almost in the exact same situation. I have a 10 year old RSP-1066 that still sound fantastic particularly for music and DVD concerts powered by an RMB-1085). I don't use any HDMI on the RSP bu...
Is the marantz SR7007 a good receiver?
Oj, just keep in mind an important fact about Marantz AVRs. While you can't go wrong with a Marantz product and I've had a number of Marantz u irs (still have two players), don't be fooled by their power/ch rating. If you look closely at this mode...
Best bookshelf speakers???
The B&W 685s are an excellent choice for the price I believe in the $600.00 area. Monitor Audio is another great brand. So many to choose from but you can't go wrong with the 685s.
NAD Remote Disassembly
That may be a difficult one to get an answer on. However it looks like there is one for sale on EBAY right now for about $25.00. Check it out. May be your only solution.
B&W 650 Bookshelf Speakers for Music and 2ch HT?
Yes I agree with Paraneer. The B&W 685s are excellent standmount loudspeakers for the money and to start building with. They incorporate design features found in their much more expensive 800 series units such as FST and tapered tube tweeters....
My PS Audio Duet Power Center Stopped working
Yes agreed. PS Audio is a reputable firm and am sure they'll do all they can to assist. I've had a Duet now for a number of years still working perfectly. My only complaint in that the inlet power coard plug is not as snug as I'd like it to be but...
cd player is dying, need suggestions please
I guess I'm still old fashioned and am still playing and cleaning my CDs one at a time. It's all part of the hobby and doing my part. Anyway, much has to do with your budget and how many $$ and how much time you want to spend on this. There are so...
Need some help with a cable and my subwoofer
Could have to do with the difference in the wire gauge, number of internal wire consuctors and the difference in resistance & capacitance ratings between the two. I looked at both on-line but neither of the manufacturer's website provides the ...
Your favorite music over the holidays
Vince Guaraldi "A Charlie Brown Christmas", hands down. Get the CD, it's fabulous. Also David Benoit offers his version recorded more recently than the original tunes.
