Final? ARC Chapter...
My thoughts that ARC needs some systems for the non-wealthy but want quality. Starting at 2k with an integrated. They should be able to do it. They also need excellent customer service or word will get out and be their demise. There are many peopl...
Should I steer clear of class D amps
A friend of mine bought several mono blocks class D amps to drive his Maggie's.  They were in the Red Dragon class.  He has a Yggdrisal DAC Freya pre amp. He went with Two Vidars. His reason was the class was not as accurate in the high range, mid...
When are speakers considered Hi-Fi and not Mid-Fi???
Whoever says Cornwall speakers are not Hi Fi needs better hearing aids. Many people supplement with high quality subs to makeup for the low-end issue. I guess all the rant about LS 50 bookshelf would apply too. All that matters is your happy with ...
Ripping CD's to SSD?
Careful to have backups of the music if using SSD drives. They have a limited number of read / writes before they stop working. No recovery. The best is to have a backup and also use a severe use drive. A 5100rpm drive made to last. The mechanical...
Integrated suggestions
Please check out Primaluna. I am still thrilled with the sound after 2 years. Auto biasing, point to point hand wired, high quality components and steel case mounted tube sockets. Tough to beat in your price range.
Can’t buy output tubes anywhere except from manufacturers at high prices.
All over Amazon, my guitar supply. Depends on the tubes. At my guitar spply I got quad JJ KT77s Matched Apex from there at a decent price.
Returns
I bought a bluesound integrated amp from crutchfield. It cost me a $60 restocking fee. Free shipping back to them. They could sell it open box and still make money from the restock fee. They are good for returns, but not cheap.
Why are People Dumping their Audio Research Gear and What Does it Say about them?
Conrad Johnson went through the same thing several years back. I suspect the same will happen with Audio Research.  The company will be bought out and people will still be able to get them. There are electronics Engineers, technicians capable are ...
Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
Invalid - you have a great point. Build that nice flat response speaker and then go add that beast subwoofer so it sounds great but no longer a flat curve on the low end. Then the next poorly EQ recording comes on and you launch over to the sub wo...
Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
Timlub, as long as there are imperfect ears, there will never be a perfect speaker design. The perfect speaker is in the ear of the beholder.
Multiple inputs on DAC
Jonnieloop - Update, i did as you suggested, purchased a good quality Usb cable and ran it from the innous mini mk III to the shiit bifrost. Wow! What an incredible improvement in sound, realism, depth, detail and even separation. The bass went fr...
Why do I need a switch?
I use a netgear pl1200 lan and a 5 port netgear switch and it sounds great. Go by what you hear, not what people say. If you have a large income and want an expensive network, then ok. It may or may not help the sound. I think your 8 port switch i...
Why do I need a switch?
I use a Netgear PL1200. Then I run to a netgear 5 port switch. It sounds great. You can get faster models of this type if you want. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-PowerLINE-Gigabit-Pass-Through-PLP1200-100PAS/dp/B00S6DBGIS/ref=asc_df_B00S6DBGIS?t...

un-becoming an audiophile
One way to look at this is nothing man made is perfect. And if you think it is, that is in the ear of the beholder!  I personally after growing up as a musician, audio enthusiast know what I think sounds accurate. There are so many aspects to buil...
