Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Hi FrankThe arm is the latest Tri-planar to be mounted on a SME 30. I gave the machinist a Graham armboard to copy but without the large bore for the din to pass through. The SME armboard has a fibre type damping material but the Graham has lead f...
Has anyone had experience with the Schroeder Arm
Dear FrankIf you could quickly answer a question for me I would greatly appreciate it.I am having a local machinist make me an armboard for a new tonearm. The armboard I have is brass. What do you think would happen to the sound it I changed in to...
motor replacement dilema
HiYou may want to contact some of the boys from Teres, Galiber or Redpoint. They sell battery powered outboard motors that you can dial in to the correct speed. All those table have high mass platters and use similiar motors.Paul
Dynavector PHA-200 Head Amp.
HiFor you to use the Dynavector properly it should be used with a 47K ohm load for the Head-amp. It sould work great on the MM side of your Lamm. I used one with a Hovland HP-100 and it was a big improvement over their coils. If you are interested...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
Dear GeorgeAs Raul has stated ans so have I your problem is the internal impedance or the Glider. Regardless of Basis being an overly warm sounding table the Glider is not short on high frequency extension. An open bodied cart like that has less m...
Is this why my analog rig isn't so hot?
Hello GeorgeThe problem is not that you need a better cart but one with a lower internal impedance. All the Benz carts have an impedance around 30 Ohms and The 47 Labs wants to see carts with lower impedance, around 10 Ohms on down for their "stan...
Dynavector Cartridge Load 100ohms or 47k ohms?
Anyone I know who used a Dynavector XV-1 usually loaded the cart down around 100 Ohms. Dynavector sells a Step-up and the only loading they provide with it is 4-7 and 30-40 ohms settings, so I think they want theirs loaded at that. But I am sure yo...
new vinyl in Toronto / surrounding area
You really have to check out Applause Audio. I was there on Friday. Not the largest selection but a lot more than HMV, and he sells many new and used turntables.Great shop to go visit, one of my must go to places anytime I go to Toronto.
Anyone using Schroeder arms? Opinions pls.
Hi 4yanxWhere did you get to hear the Schroeder on the SME. Was there a custom arm board used. How did you like it say compared to SME's own arm.Paul
Best Cartridge for SME 20/ Graham 2.2
I have the SME 20 with Graham 2.2 and use a Miyabi 47 and I think it is wonderful. It is very demanding of setup and proper loading. I use a Dynavector PH-100 through a Hovland MM and like it very much.I also have a Dynavector XV-1 but prefer it m...
Have anyone pics and tech-data for a SU-1 step-up?
I really do not know, I have never heard it. A well respected friend in the audio community doesn't think it is worth the money. As for being better than the Cotter I will say yes, as for the Kondo, it comes down to what you like. I think that is ...

VPI aries scout, Nottingham innerspace...
If I had your choices, I would go for the Nottingham. I had a chance to listen with a RS labs tonearm and Shelter cart. One of the most pleasing and musical tables I have ever heard. If you like rock and music that is not especially recorded well ...
Excellent Transformers ??
I have a Miyabi/47 labs that is very similair to yours. Untill I bought the matching phono stage from 47 Labs it was very bass shy with the Hovland phono stage. So I think loading of these carts is very critical. I would recommend a Dynavector Ste...
