how do we call wadia 581/781's metal remote? I'd call Wadia and refer to it as the 'plastic battery back cover' from the 581/781's metal remote. I'm sure they'll figure what you mean.
Unbalanced and Balanced output voltage When using a Wadia cd player's built in digital volume control the loudness levels are the same regardless to whether the RCA or XLR out puts are used . But I was under the impression that they used a true balanced circuit?
matching amps input voltage to source output volta Thanks again Al for taking the time explaining all this. I'm not very technical minded .But yes I am using XLR cables mainly because the Nagra amp only has these available on back ( supposedly due to lack of space which does seem odd as they have ...
matching amps input voltage to source output volta Thanks Al for the info. If I'm right by changing my amps input voltage down to just 1 volt ( instead of 2) I'll get about 25 watts available of my amps 100watts rather than just the six I was currently getting. I think my Speakers (Harbeth M40.1s ...
Magico Q1 versus ... Not heard the Magico's but am a big fan of the Harbeth M30's and their certainly a lot less money!
Harbeth C7 Decoupling - Sound Anchor Blue Dot? I should have added that I use Herbies 'thin' Fat pads which are not taking but still grip enough. I also used thin cork pads to similar affect. For under the speaker stands I use again Herbies Threaded Stud Gliders which enable me to move the stan...

Harbeth M30 Amp suggestions Hi Jon I haven't tried the Modright but I also have the M30s and used to drive them with the MC275. I now use ( like the Modright) a 100watt SS amp, a Nagra PSA, and noticed all the benefits that Lapierre mentioned without any tradeoffs. So I'd co...
Speaker Stand Design? Hi Nodata, Solidsteel do make the SS-6 which are 24". I just happen to prefer the proportions (bigger top plate etc) of the SS-5s. Also if you factor in spikes (or even castors?!) plus the possible future use of any isolation platforms ( Symposiu...
Speaker Stand Design? Hi, Nodata, great speakers, I love mine! The four pillar Skylan are fantastic stands. The light weight Foundation stands don't suit the M30s as much as the other larger speakers in the Harbeth range. f your on the east east the 3 or 4 pillar Sound...

Distance from the front not the rear wall? Tiofelon, yes try and give the method I linked to a try . What led me to give it a go was the idea that it works well in rooms that do not have any or much room treatments. My system, like many others I expect. Is not in a dedicated listening room...
Distance from the front not the rear wall? I see a lot of the posts mention its not good to have your head near to back wall. But the method I've recently started to use (to good effect so far) recommends to do this ( with minor to no room treatments ) Its the method recommended by Immedia...
How Much DC is OK on a Power Line? I've been told that a buzz/hum from an amp can be caused by "odd harmonics on your home AC". Is this the same as 'DC on the line' as Peter in first post was told ? And if different what sort of conditioner is best to 'cure' this? |
