speakers for Classical in v small room.
Thanks for the replies . I will be able to compare the small Proac's ( which I really like) to the Harbeths ( which I love having owned both the M30s and M40.1s) pretty easily again as they are both in stock with my local dealer. The Magico's I can...

Integrated amp: Can it perform equal to separates?
A cd player with built in volume control( Wadia, Audio Aero, Nagra! etc) plus a power amp is maybe another two box solution worth considering if cd is your only source.
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following
Dave 72 I can see why you'd think that. Here's a link that might explain why. Post 3 and 8 are by Alan Shaw the designer.http://www.harbeth.co.uk/usergroup/showthread.php?1727-Lxnn-and-Harbeth-combinations-for-the-modern-listener&p=20775#post2...
LFD NCSE Mk II Break In Period?
Yes Jay my NCSE was new and I certainly didn't give it the required?! 200 hours. Another deal breaker for me was how manual volume control had a much too restrictive useable range ( from quiet to loud was between around 7 to 8 o'clock if I remembe...
LFD NCSE Mk II Break In Period?
Hope it works out Jay. I like you have that ( indoctrinated?) audiophile fear that those extra 'filters' will destroying everything! You can see from my system thats its the hight of the minimalist approach. No tone controls anywhere in sight!...a...
LFD NCSE Mk II Break In Period?
Jay maybe worth a look at (though terribly unfashionable!) some SS integrated amps with tone controls. Mcintosh , Accuphase and Luxman come to mind.( can you still trade exchange with your dealer?)Complete opposite to the LFD philosophy but probab...
Help choosing Classical Music LPs
Personally I'd firstly recommend just listening to BBC radio 3 via their free BBC iplayer. And see what grabs you. Apart from being free the main advantage of this approach ( as apposed to say Spotify, which is useful only once you found something...
LFD NCSE Mk II Break In Period?
Hi Jayh31, I could be wrong be I think Donjr has Compact 7ES-3 which have a metal dome tweeter ( and he likes his). Conversely when I tried the NCSE mk I with my soft domed Harbeth M30's I also didn't care for the sound ( similar result to what it...
Input Needed - Renovating Basement for A/V System
Far a carpeting/rug solution. www.flor.com tiles are a great option as you can just replace or clean the individual tile in the case of a cat mishap. They also come in a great variety of designs .
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following
Title of this thread should be: Why am I ,Taters so obsessed with Harbeths. (Judging by all many of your other threads)
