Wilson Sophia
Heard a bit of Muddy Waters (SACD)at a dealer on Sophias driven by Spectral. I could not recognize Muddy's voice since it sounded thin and distant. Speakers did much better on an SACD of RenĂ©e Fleming. So based on this very brief audition I would ...
Any chance of Neil Diamond sacds ?
Thank God no!
Long Wall Speaker Placement: Pros and Cons?
Con: looks weird.
Why Energize the Whole Room/Virtual Reality Audio?
Stax used to make electrostatic headphones called "earspeakers" with the sound emanating from in front of the ear and not piped directly into the ear canal. They actually looked like two little speakers on a headband. I don't think those are made ...
what made you get into high end gear.
I don't think I am into high-end gear: every time I upgrade something someone on these boards tells me how good that piece of equipment is but that compared to brand X it is small beer.I pride myself in being and remaining mid-fi.
Problems with SME 10 Turntable
Seems to be the pressing more than anything else. A case of edge warp in some records I would think. The motion sets off some subsonic garbage. Unfortunately, most if not all audiophile phono sections have done away with a subsonic filter. I cured...

Why is it so much more civil over here on Agon?
One gives the benefit of the doubt to free expression, the other only wants its own version of what the audio world should be where more money always equals better sound. You probably will not be able to read this. This post is sort of like the tr...
Do Audiophiles blow speakers?
Yes. You don't want to know the list of issues.

Will Dakiom Stabilisers work for pass X2.5/350?
Do Dakom's work period?
new vs. used vinyl, pops and clicks.
I only buy new vinyl. The cleaning machine fancy may be a good thing, but once those surfaces are damaged no amount of cleaning will undo the damage. As tantalizing as those stories of the wonders wrought by ever more expensive cartridges and phon...
Preamp for Bryston 4bst
I think that an ARC pre is the way to go.
