Upgrade my DAC or buy more weed?
What DAC do you currently have? Who cares.... More Weed bro. More weed.
How many will listen to tape and vinyl in the next century?
No wires is the future. Invisible transducers is the future. No hard mediums is the future.
What Does a Cartridge Compliance/Tonearm Mass Mismatch Sound Like?
My experience with this is that everything just sounds wrong and or lost.
Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?
"Why do I keep torturing myself with remasters?"You support every causeĀ  :)
Synchro-Mesh
It is not, but what it does for most digital sources is quite impressive. It takes a very damn good digital transport to beat the Synchro Mesh.
What piece(s) of equipment would you most like to try?
A Kuzma XL4.
Symposium's Classic Damping Insert Kit for VPI turntables
Symposium stuff absolutely rocks. I would NEVER hesitate to take Peter's advice for any product.
Which dac ?
Budget?
Wyred4Sound - Do clocks age?
Do the clocks degrade with time? I have wondered about this as well, but I think the electrolytic caps will give up long before the clocks do.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
It's OCD
What is Technics thinking?
Well there is no shortage of available SL-1200's, that's for sure. I'd put an SME 10" arm and a Herbie's mat on a 1200MK5 and call it a day, but that's just me.
What is Technics thinking?
I think this TT is quite impressive, and can appreciate the homage, but $4K is a joke. A very very bad joke. It may be great, but will it slay all other TT's at the $4K mark? I think not even close personally.
Upsampling - but seriously folks
Right... Your DAC may have a sweet spot it likes to play at, and this could potentially make for an improvement, but it likely won't amount to much.
I used to think passive preamps were superior to active preamps given right the setup, but
Oh dracule1, what is this vintage preamp you are speaking of?
I used to think passive preamps were superior to active preamps given right the setup, but
I used to like passive preamps, DAC's direct to amps..... That was until I got a good tube preamp. Now there is no going back.
