Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade?
No idea what you are talking about. You assume people must constantly ripping and replacing gear if they are considered an “audiophile”. I’ve never done this because I’m very careful about my purchases and their synergy in my system. I’ve never bo...
Fee for home audition
I would never pay 5% for a frankly worthless 1 hour demo. You need to listen to it for longer than an hour to know if it really sounds good to your ears with various types of music and a DAC pairing(s). For say a $2,500 streamer that’s $125/hour. ...
A SHOCKING DISCOVERY ABOUT DIGITAL AUDIO
Op said nothing and contradicted himself. If mp3 are so much better why do you imply cds sound better? Just trying to ruffle feathers by saying nothing. Kenjit has always posted one ridiculous post after another for years. Doesn’t contribute anyth...
What is your experience with amp power?
High, clean current is most important. Too often watts are way over stated by a manufacturer and then when hooked up they sound weak. As always, the only way to really know is to place an amp in your system and see how it sounds to your ears.
Low level listening
To those in the camp that Magnepans won’t play well at low volumes, I’m willing to bet with a high current amp this wouldn’t be the case. My fully restored/upgraded Apogee Acoustics Duetta II Signature are pretty inefficient, but still sound incre...
Name 3 songs where audio quality and song quality completely align
Most any album by Eva Cassidy; Grateful Dead - Dark Star (Live at Winterland, 1973), Grateful Dead, Celebrating Jerry Garcia (engineering and song version are all exceptional on this album, including one of my all time favorites - Morning Dew (Liv...
going from tube preamp to solid state
I’m really surprised no one asked - What amp are you currently using? The synergy between the amp and preamp is very important. Personally, I wouldn’t consider a tube amp and solid state preamp. Frankly, I don’t recall an instance when someone was...
"Audiophile" Power Cables: The Greatest Audio Conspiracy Theory of All Time?
God, so over the back and forth on this subject. Use your own ears. If you hear no difference in your system return them and move on. There is a big grey area between the two warring ends of the spectrum that I and many others reside in. Generally...

Ozzy is done
It was clear he has Parkinson’s decades ago. I watched my grandfather deteriorate over time with this disease. He talked about how he was seeing stars and outer space. Not a good way to go. Brain literally turns into sand.
Made in USA
For me: Apogee Acoustics - U.S SoundCare - Norway BAT - U.S Audiolab - UK MHDT Labs - Taiwan BlueSound - U.S Symo - Swiss Silnote Audio - U.S  Wireworld - U.S
Why does pulling out main speakers from wall improve sound?
Depends on the speaker design. My Apogee full range ribbon speakers are dipole. So sound comes out of the front and back equally. For this reason, they should be between 3-6 feet off the back wall. The entire range of sound sounds better, more air...
Recommendations for good sounding streamer
I have the BlueSound Node streamer. I bypass the internal DAC and go digital coax to an MHDT Orchid DAC. I am also soon buying a Teddy Pardo external power supply to further improve the streamer.
Why are there so many wooden box speakers out there?
@kenjit I thought you previously said that speakers made of concrete must be the best? You are just trying to be provocative as usual saying sphere enclosures are superior yet you provide no specific references whatsoever on how you came to this c...
Break In Failed
Just set them up and play them as much as possible, enjoy the music and listen to how they evolve in the break-in period. Don’t sweat the process. They will break-in regardless. I’m doing the same with my totally updated/redone (including crossove...
