Class A, A/B vs Class D amp Soundstage
Easy. Call Cambridge Audio and talk to one of their experts. I’m sure they would helpful input.
Should You Leave An External Power Supply On 24-7?
@jetter I am very happy with the Teddy Pardo LPS. I began my streaming journey with just the Node (gen 1) a few years ago. I then added an MHDT Orchid DAC (tube on the output stage) to bypass the Node’s internal DAC (using all Silnote Audio cablin...
Should You Leave An External Power Supply On 24-7?
I also installed a Teddy Pardo with my Node about 2 weeks ago. I leave them both on all the time, but turn off all of my other components. The Teddy Pardo seems to draw very little power and doesn’t get hot anyway. I’ll continue to leave mine on a...
Streamer question
Are any of you with Nodes actually able to stream Tidal FLAC files (“Max”)? The best I’m seeing is MQA, mostly CD. I’m assuming a BlueSound software update just hasn’t some out yet?
Streamer question
@ curiousjim it’s says a lot about the value of my/your DAC/streamer setup, particularly the Teddy Pardo linear power supply, when you’re considering it would take $6-8k for a meaningful upgrade :).
DACed and Confused here...
I have a BlueSound Node. Its internal DAC wasn’t up to my standard. So, not too long after I purchased it I bought an MHDT Orchid DAC for ~$1,200 (has an output stage tube) connected to the Node via a digital coax interconnect (Silnote Audio). I h...
Streamer question
I’ve got the Node as well. I wouldn’t look at replacing it. First, get a solid external DAC. I use the MHDT Orchid (has an output stage tube). My next step is upgrading the Node’s internal switching power supply with a Teddy Pardo external linear ...
Is it worth it? DAC question
I also recommend strongly considering the Teddy Pardo external linear power supply for the Node. The DAC on the Node is mediocre. The Node’s streamer is very good. It sound great with my MHDT Orchid DAC with both the digital coax (Node -> MHDT ...
At what price is one considered an Audiophile.
You either like how your system sound to your EARS or you find aspects of how it impacts the signal path that you would like to correct by changing out certain components, tubes, streaming service/software, etc. in your system. How big your budget...
Five feet from the front wall
At least for my Apogee ribbon dipoles the sweet spot seems to be 4’ off the back wall, but always experiment with your speakers in the listening space. There are too many unique factors in any listening space.
Loudspeaker sensitivity and dynamics: are the two inexorably linked?
Not necessarily. My Apogee Acoustics Duetta Signature full range ribbon dipole planar speakers (fully restored/upgraded a year ago) are quite inefficient. To sound their best they demand a lot of current. When properly matched with components, par...
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil...
Ear sensitivity, critical listening focus and perception, personal sonic preferences, etc all add up to a sound system add, say a new interconnect, being an upgrade to one person, a downgrade to another person and not discerned at all by yet anoth...
Best EXTERNAL DAC suggestions
I’ve got a Node and love it paired with my MHDT Orchid DAC that has an output tube. Tube rolling is fun since the sound signature changes accordingly. I also will be buying a Teddy Pardo linear power supply to improve the Node (streaming).
Stephen Stills
Love the music from all of the members of CSNY (Neil Young outside of a string of crappy albums such as The Monsanto Years where he was more concerned about making statements than quality albums/songs). Saw the frenetic Stephen Still at the Ogden ...
Curious to know what you guys think/like about Pink Floyd's early work
Since you are referring to their early work then you mean the Syd Barrett era. Much of it isn’t nearly as accessible to listeners as their much better known great later works like Wish You Were Here, but I have come to love their early works just ...
