What format are most people using, and why?
As mentioned earlier in the thread I have all my files saved in Apple Lossless. If I had iTunes convert my Apple Lossless files to WAV would my files be equivalent to ones created if I had ripped them to WAV from the CD at the point of my original...
Wireless USB
Steve: does this mean you wouldn't be able to hook one of these devices to an Offramp Turbo 2 - or a USB DAC?
iMac Sound Quality
I'm not positive about this but, in general, I think you are better off when you use the USB out than a other out's.
Future of CD's - Hard drive based music
Jrun & Gibson58: Hard-drives are not new technology, and today they are inexpensive and getting more so -- they are also easy to configure for reliabity and security (RAID arrays and the like) . Computers are hardly new either (older than CD p...
Help with PC Audio Quality vs. CD
I ordered the UD-10 from the dealer on Audiogon last week. I will report my findings after I receive it. If I am using a MAC with the OS X and iTunes 7 - then do I have all those different settings (sample rates, buffer setting, etc.) some of you ...

The fact the an entire industry around power modification devices (cords, conditioners, etc., etc.) has arisen is suggestive that "power" and "power supply" issues play an critical role in the sound of stereo components. This would further lend su...
Internet radio stations that sound really good
Yeah, I would rate the sound as good on Live365 but not great. When I have it on it is usually background and not for sessions in the sweet spot. The attraction is the organization, variety, commercial-free, and the fact that they are all legitima...
Help with PC Audio Quality vs. CD
Do let us know how the Trends works out. No doubt Steve is at the cutting edge of this field right now....and the price of his gear reflects that. I may try to save up for one of his USB to SPDIF converters.
Internet radio stations that sound really good
Live 365 is a Internet Radio clearinghouse of sorts. For a reasonable monthly fee you get access to thouands of reliable internet radio stations organized by Genre, they are commercial free, and you can see what quality sound level they are broadc...
Help with PC Audio Quality vs. CD
I'm no pro on this, but here is what I would try. Get an external USB to S/PDIF converter like the Hag USB. Use it to go between your computer and your DAC. I think that will help because -- I believe some of the problem you are experiencing might...
Computer music to Stereo
Many threads on this in this (digital) forum and in the PC Audio forum.
Do I need a DAC to go from computer to integrated
Yeah you pretty much do. You need something to convert the digital to analog. You can either: 1. get a USB DAC, which are spouting up everywhere, 2. get some kind of computer soundcard (internal or external), or, 3. a USB to S/PDIF converter that ...

I think there is definitely something to this. The only component of my system that is not battery powered is my hard drive. The rest runs of battery power and sounds fantastic.
Today's Transport War: Significant Differences?
Perhaps tomorrow's transport war is today's transport war.
Today's Transport War: Significant Differences?
Jsadurni/others: I reached a personal conclusion on this over two years ago. Fingertip access to my 9000 songs through iTunes is IT for me.....NO going back. Having all my music on iTunes lead me to listen to more of my collection than ever before...
