EAD DSP 7000/9000 .... Best DACs ????? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Just kidding, I couldn't resist. It took me many years to realize that there is no "truth" with a capital T -- especially in this hobby. Really, there is a very long continuum between better and worse, and then you have...
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome Received my SWL 9.0 SE and with about 50 hours on it I am amzed at what an improvment this is on my system. Clarity, and incredible presence of the music. One of the things I love about it is the improvement of resolution at low volume levels. Inc...
CD Redbook versus DVD Audio Well said, Rex. When I had a Denon 2900 it was NOT as simple as putting a disc in and hitting "play" to get to the 2 channel audio selection. I have rid myself of all my DVD-A's and all my non-hybrid SACD's and have sought to maximize my redbook p...
Given my AMP and DAC, which preamp? Played a hunch and went with the new Modwright SWL 9.0SE. It is burning in as I speak. Thus far, I am blown away.I could not go for the Placette as I like to have a volume knob to turn; also, the look and how I interact with the equipment does mat...
Best Upgrade I've ever made Attending to your power does pay dividends. While I have not been able to do work as serious and admirable as work mentioned by those above, I did add an Audiophile APS 1050 to my system and was amazed at the improvement in sound. Probably one of ...
Modwright SWL 9.0SE Pre ... your thoughts welcome I just ordered one and will pair it with my Pass X250.5 amp and a Dodosn DAC. Looking forward to it.
Given my AMP and DAC, which preamp? Awesome suggestions, THANK YOU! Please keep them coming. Part of me thinks that I am really after is a high quality volume control with one, maybe two inputs. I do not need phono or tape, or any of the other functions of a full- function preamp. T...
Coping in an Age of Uncertainty I agree with Drubin. When I tried to get my stereo in my car, I hurt my back. Then I tried the iPod and my back did not hurt at all. I sure like having almost my entire music collection on the road with me in my car. It is foolish to compare an iP...
bb tweeking again. help me I read an article that Basmati has better vibration absorbing properties than does brown or white types of rice;)
Am I behind the digital eightball? I would avoide the SACD bug if at all possible and maximize your redbook CD playback. After traveling a long, expensive, and frustrating road with SACD (as I have detailed in other threads) I just do not believe it is worth it.
What would you do? How about "neutral" feedback? I think there is still a category for that in the new system.
ExactPower EP15A I received my Audiophile APS 1050 a few days ago. Well, WOW!!!The addition of this unit to my system has made a more significant improvement to the sound of my system than almost anything I have done to my system in recent memory. I am now a true ...
Cable auditions - Hard Work? Jadem6: That was a really outstanding analysis you provided. Made good sense, to me.
Top loading CD Player clearances I agree with Rex. I am using a CEC TL51X tranpsort with my Prima MK II SE DAC and I need all of the 4 inches I have. The room is mainly needed to easily lift off the heavy puck that sits on top of the disc. So, minimum 4 inches and 6 inches would ...
TRL Marantz Sa-14 I already sold the unit. The last point I listened to it was at the 100 hour mark. Just to reiterate, it is not at all hard for me to see what people like about this player....TRL is doing great work and Paul and Co. are fine people to deal with, ... |
