Has anyone compared the EMT 139st phonostage to others ?
I also have the Luxman EQ-500 on my radar. But the EMT 139st is the first choice if I could get some feedback about it. Some times it just has a vintage charm for which people know and talk about a product. But I don't want to spend Euro 5k on a p...
Has anyone upgraded from an AudioTechnica ART9?
If you follow Pani's posts, you might notice that he is frequently in the market for a new this or a new that. There's nothing wrong with that; it's part of the fun of the hobby for some of us, but it does suggest that Pani is on a different jo...
Has anyone compared the EMT 139st phonostage to others ?
Hello Jperry,I already have a nicely matched SUT for my  EMT cartridge. But my phonostage is quite basic. I am particularly looking for a good tube stage. Apart from the EMT phono I may consider a good Conrad Johnson phonostage because my amplific...
Has anyone upgraded from an AudioTechnica ART9?
I did upgrade from ART9. I was not after a $5k cartridge to replace the ART9. I explored reasonably priced cartridges. The only ones I found I really liked after the ART9 are EMT TSD-75/HSD-006, Anamighty Sound Denon 103 Level 3 and Decca Jubilee ...
Bookshelf Bake Off
Get a slightly bigger, high quality British monitor speakers and pair it with a nice high current amp and you are set. Some recommendations:Speakers:1. Tannoy Sterling (not a bookshelf but behaves likes bookshelf), great speaker2. Proac Response D...
Loricraft Garrard 301 to Dobbins Sp10 Mk3 - What can I expect ?
I tried the 1200G with lower torque, default torque and also higher torque. The sound did change a bit. The thing is when you want to “fine tune” these things matter. When you are looking for a more fundamental change in sound these things don’t h...
Loricraft Garrard 301 to Dobbins Sp10 Mk3 - What can I expect ?
One important difference I missed out is, from 1200G to Sp10 Mk2 there was a marked increase in slam factor.
Loricraft Garrard 301 to Dobbins Sp10 Mk3 - What can I expect ?
Hi lewm, I like the 301, Lenco L75, EMT 930, Rega, Nottingham Analogue, Dr.Feickert, Bergmann (latest model), Avid, Well setup LP12 and many more record players. All of them sound different but none of them exhibit the kind of electronically contr...
Loricraft Garrard 301 to Dobbins Sp10 Mk3 - What can I expect ?
@ljgm, I preferred the 301.Before talking about 301, I will talk about the 3 technics I had the fortunate opportunity to try. 1200G, Sp10 Mk2, Sp10Mk3.All of them sound surprisingly similar! All of them had similar flow of music, similar tonality,...
Preamp for Rogue Stereo 100 amplifier
Thanks Mulveling. I wonder why not a good CJ Premier series preamp ? I once heard a CJ Premier 11a amp with PV12 preamp driving a Tannoy Monitor Gold. It was wonderful. It was fast, fluid and colorful. Tones were so believable. It was not analytic...
Preamp for Rogue Stereo 100 amplifier
Thanks everyone. The RP7 seems very promising, though expensive. But now my interest has also piqued for Cronus Magnum III with their SE upgrades (resistor and caps upgrade). If it is close to the sound of seperate ST-100 and RP7 then it would be ...
Tell me about Thales TTT compact turntable
No, I didnt get the Thales. It turns out that the tonearm is on the leaner side sonically. The TT is good but it is a bit of a pain to install a different tonearm on it because of its form factor. This confusion has kept me away.
Is a PTP Solid 12 (Lenco) worthy of a $5k cartridge
Thanks. Thats good news.I am now shortlisting tonearms. The obvious cost effective choice is Thomas Schick. But I am also looking at Origin Live, SME 3012R or a Fidelity Research FR64s.
Is a PTP Solid 12 (Lenco) worthy of a $5k cartridge
Lewm, I meant in the area of quietness and transparency belt drives may better the Lenco. Correct me if I am wrong.
Is a PTP Solid 12 (Lenco) worthy of a $5k cartridge
Having owned a souped up Garrard 301 and listened to fairly souped up Lencos, I know what it does to music in general. That is definitely up my alley. I have not heard the PTP version which as per some is a more refined machine after the various m...
