DAC connection: which type gives highest fidelity?
Just curious about the Node/Denafrips issues. I feed my Denafrips Ares II via the Node (2021) using only digital RCA coax. I listen to Tidal and Qobuz at all bit and sampling rates available; I’ve never witnessed this at all to be honest.I’ve seen...
Denafrips Ares ii
HiI can't really answer your first 2 questions as I bought mine pre-owned from an auction site and haven't heard a tube DAC. I run my Ares II fed by the Bluesound Node 2021 and Audiolab 6000CDT, into a Naim Nait 5si and Quad S2 speakers; I can't h...
Ethernet cable for Streaming
@mitch2 thanks very much for the advice. I went with a short run of optical fibre between a pair of TP Link converters you linked in one of your previous posts above. My Cat6a feeding in to the first converter, and a short run of Supra Cat8 termin...
2xRCA to 5pin Din options for Naim Nait 5si
Wow!!! Thanks very much for this Steve; that's a whole new world. Definitely food for thought. The My Audio Alchemy site is a brilliant resource; it's very accessible even for a complete novice, and very comprehensive.I think the endorsements the ...

You can also make the bulk of your run using fiber for a small cost.  Two converters like these and 45-50 feet of fiber with very short CAT 8 runs at either end.Reading this thread with interest. Especially the post quoted above. My listening room...
2xRCA to 5pin Din options for Naim Nait 5si
Thanks Steve. The link didn't work for me though I'm afraid. It's been a little while since my OP. In the meantime, I found a cheap pre-owned pair of Van den Hul D102 Mk III cables terminated in Nakamichi RCAs, for about £20 on an auction site. Thi...
audiolab 6000 CDT transport
I also have the Audiolab 6000CDT running in to the Denafrips Ares II; it plays my old CDs from 30 years ago no problem, some of which are definitely not in mint condition 🙄. I was concerned with the slot loading, but on my newer, flawless CDs, the...
New set up in asymmetrical room - speaker placement etc
You might try a diagonal orientation, with the bay window along one of the rear walls rather than one of the front ones. This can angle the first sidewall reflections so that they miss the listening position.Sorry, you lost me there 😊. Please cou...
New set up in asymmetrical room - speaker placement etc
Thanks erik_squires; should these be bass traps/broadband absorbers?
New set up in asymmetrical room - speaker placement etc
I'd push that sofa closer out into the room also, closer to the speakers.Again, JUST another thing to try. You're too far away from the speakers. I'd start with the equilateral triangle position, based on the speakers new position, with the sofa ...
New set up in asymmetrical room - speaker placement etc
Thanks Miller Carbon. I've created a "system" just to show the room as it was/is, and it's inherent peculiarities. Any comments/advice more than welcome. Thanks again
New set up in asymmetrical room - speaker placement etc
Thanks Tablejockey. I've increased distance to side walls to 3ft, and brought them further into the room to just under 3ft to the wall. That's made a significant improvement already. Previously, all components of a track were articulated well, but...
