agree for 100% to produce bass 30 Hz baffle size must be HUGE Disagree. The Spatial Audio X3 with it’s powered 15" woofer could easily reach into the mid 20s with a baffle width of about 18". For all it’s other shortcomings, bass response and q...
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid
@grislybutter  If one reads the specifics the OP is looking for, then "X" might be a good fit. Even if the person suggesting it owns "X". Now suggesting "X" only because you own it and love it, is not helpful. If I say I want a speaker that will...

New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid
@sls883  Understood and good choice. I have owned two versions of the VR4. Albert (RIP) made some damn fine speakers.
What Horn loaded speaker/ speaker system for $10k'ish and under
@pdreher  No, I really didn’t have any regrets. I liked the Parsifals a lot. They were just a little polite for metal and hard rock. I have since moved on to the Qualio IQs, which are good at all genres. I need to update my system page.
New Speakers under consideration - but I’m afraid
@sls883  Very confusing. You say you stayed with the VS speakers, then you say the new speakers are an improvement. Which is it?
A brief review of GR Research Bully
Thanks for the post. I looked at these in the past and thought they were interesting. How about a little insight into how they sound?

It seems that @bache has a habit of starting controversial threads about OB speakers. Not a good look for a manufacturer who builds a competitive design.

@dbt  The thing I didn’t like about the X3 was Clayton’s decision to use a 12” driver to reproduce the midrange. I never got the feeling that the midrange reproduction seemed “real”. There was no texture to voices and instruments. Dynamics were g...
Preamp upgrade
I’ve owned the 3a several times and always enjoyed my time with it. Not sure about the 3b, but if it has the same amount of gain, then you need to consider that. These are extremely high gain preamps with wide steps on the attenuators. Not a good ...
Dodd Audio Preamp
A few years ago I owned Danny’s Super V loudspeakers. These included the two woofer version of the OB subs. Although the coaxial driver was not ready for prime time, it was some of the best lower frequencies I’ve ever heard.

@toddalin  I have owned planars, horns and box speakers. The OB speakers that have come through my room are the GR Research Super V, the Spatial Audio X3, and now the Qualio IQ. It is my opinion that the OB speakers image just as good as anything...

@bmwr75_horder    You do realize you are replying to a guy who builds speakers for a living?
