New speakers unveiled from Clayton Shaw - Caladan
For any faults the X3 might have had, bass response and accuracy was not any part of it. Truly world class bass from that speaker.

@ricevs  I was an early adopter of the X3. I paid 7500.00 and that was before the big price increase. Although they were very good speakers, ultimately they weren’t for me so I moved on.  Now that speaker is where I can see a good sized profit be...

The way I see it, I don’t think the term is meant to denigrate, but compliment. At least in this case. It’s pretty obvious that Clayton is not making bank selling these speakers at that price. I would imagine this is an introductory offer that has...
Do you think driver “break in” is real?

I tried an LA4 and I didn't keep it long. It wasn't so much as neutral as it was forward and fatiguing. I'm sure someone will chime in with the old adage that it was just showing me the true nature of my system. But a Hattor Audio "The Big" preamp...
Von Schweikert Event at New Life Audio, Day 2
It’s a shame that when Albert came out with the original VR4 (and even the Counterpoint Clearfield Metropolitan before that) that he was building speakers for the average working stiff. Now the entry point is 12K for a speaker that (on first glanc...
Benchmark or McIntosh....
@avanti1960  I have never heard the Benchmark amps, but what you describe is exactly what their preamp sounds like.
Benchmark or McIntosh....
For a system geared more towards music, I would choose different speakers, electronics and speaker placement. But at least you are a good sport about all this.
Should I graduate to floor standers or will larger bookshelves suffice?
Secretionguy gets a lot of it wrong. No surprise here….
How to make the Focal Kanta No. 2 speakers sing?
@soix  +1
Benchmark or McIntosh....
Room and components are still indicative of home theater. When you try to do both in one room, compromises will be made. And you have obviously compromised music for movies. No problem with that as long as you are ok with it.
