John Klemmer
Knew of him in high school. My buddy, Rene, took lessons from him, later played with him. Klemmer dedicated an LP to him.Another friend took lessons from some guy named Joe Pass.
CD has laid back and uninvolving sound
Dazz, I'm pleased to know you do have a decent vinyl playback. I fully understand wanting more out of one's CD collection (Metrella). For my money, I'd just accept CD for what it is- limited, IMO.A bird in the hand (LP) is worth 10 in the bush.

"How can I improve this"?The answer is simple- get a quality turntable, decent cart and you will have the sound you are seeking. It baffles me that so many people spend thousands of dollars trying to get an analog sound out of their digital machin...

Dawg, I heard the Ultraverve in my system, I doubt it was the upgraded, but what I heard was musical and dynamic. An excellent pre. It is on my list.

SOTA Comet --- Opinions please.
Why bother with any of the tables you mention? If it's music you want, for $1500-$2000 all you need is a Lenco. No doubt. Thanks for asking.
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
Mikey, I am using Audio Physic Virgo II speakers and Joule amps (tube 70 w per). Bass was a tad lean when I used 35 w amps and improved with more oomph. However, I have room acoustic issues. So keep that in mind as well. Interestingly, even with G...

Jean, Welcome back!I am using the RB 300 with 17D III and it is fantabulous. Excellent tonal balance, tight, articulate bass and kick drum. The Lenco is ridiculously good.
Best and Worst Rock Concert Moments
Most recent.Last week Friday, a buddy insisted I go with him to the Hendrix tribute concert in Portland. Knowing it was a bad idea (there is only one Hendrix) I went anyway. It was the last concert of the tour and the guys running the sound system...
