Why hasn’t B&W ever entered the ultra hi-end for speakers?
The OP is confusing higher prices with higher quality.
Very bright SC and IC with coherence in imaging, soundstaging and timing
You need tone controls or other frequency equalization.  If you can't deal with that, then just accept your loudspeakers for what they are.
Emotional rollercoaster
It's a good start, but you've only taken the first step on "the journey".  If I were you I'd have the Akai not just re-capped, but refurbished.  This would include not just electrical work, but having the cabinet refinished.  Also be sure to insta...
My Music Format Odyssey
I had that Alvin & Chipmunks record too.  Got it from Record Club of America.
Power Cord Placement
I've never had a component with the power cord on the side, but I would think it would solve most of my objections.
Loose fitting power cord.
The electrical tape might work, but sounds to me like a perfect excuse to put on the dark, dark goggles and pull out the welding equipment.
The meaning of “Remastered”
The term "remastered" has become something of a marketing phrase similar to "director's cut".  In most cases it means as close to an original master tape or file has been sourced and then possibly EQ'd, leveled and channel balanced.  If there are ...
A world class volume control for pennies on the dollar
Used one for several years.  I agree with the OP that it's a very high quality product.  I ended up replacing it with a Pathos preamp when I needed more input/output flexibility.
phono/preamp analog front end
What are you trying to achieve with changing your preamp?
Bob Dylan - new album just out on Tidal - Rough and Rowdy Ways
Sure Elvis went Hollywood and then Vegas which removed some of the hillbilly from rock, but you can't really say it died unless you make some sort of artificial barrier between country and folk music.  Folk music covers a wide range of styles and ...
Have a problem with my JOB INT - how to contact company for service...
Yes, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
What makes for a "good" musician?
It’s not a question of whether someone is a good musician, but as Miles Davis would ask, “can he play?”  If you can truly play with other high quality musicians, then the group can take it to the next level and try to make good music.  Ultimately ...
Seasoning your sound with powercords
Nix the seasoning, assembling an audio system ain't cooking.  It's more akin to eating.  Then again, try taking the whole audiophile a little less seriously.
Will this amp trick work for increasing bass performance?
Don't know the best way to connect an equalizer to the Ayre.  Address the question to the manufacturer.
Will this amp trick work for increasing bass performance?
You do not need to bi-amp, but you will need a powerful, high current amp.  To best implement an equalizer you will need a preamp with a tape loop.  Most tape loops are single ended RCAs, but there are some preamps with balanced tape loops.  The o...
