its all about the music,no way hose Bigjoe, next thing you're going to start comparing stereo equipment to a beautiful woman. Equipment can look good and it can be elegant, but to describe it as beautiful is announce to the world that you have a fetish. It may or may not be a bad th...
Jeff Rowland Concerto Integrated phono card good? I can only answer the question indirectly, I have a Concentra I with a phono card which replaced the original Pass Ono dedicated phono preamp. I thought the Ono was very good to excellent, just a little cool sounding, but extremely quiet and well ...
its all about the music,no way hose You're probably right about a good number of audiophiles, even some here on Audiogon. They're equipment junkies masquerading as music lovers. It's shameful. I have a system values at $25,000 plus, but it's my software collection that I prize the m...
Making a Geographic If you go with the Maggies you'll also have to get rid of your YBA. Based upon you history of posts, what are the real chances of you finding a better sounding system?
Why Energize the Whole Room/Virtual Reality Audio? Johnk, it's not near field listening. A typical near field listening setup has a speaker 4-6 feet from the listener. Even in a studio environment, where near field listening was first employed, the speaker is still 2 to 4 feet away. I'm talking ab...
Why Energize the Whole Room/Virtual Reality Audio? S7horton, I'm not sure I understand or agree with your comments. On one hand you say MENL might be the ultimate form of music playback, but you don't think audiophile will be interested. What does that say about the wisdom of audiophiles? As far a...

Why dosome high pwr amps fail to drive some spkrs? At the 1997 CES Audio Artistry displayed the Beethovens with JRDG's Concentra integrated amp. If the speaker manufacturer is happy with their speaker's performance with the 100 wpc entry level Rowland amp, it would be quite odd that the more power...
Equalization done right, experiences? The most effective analog tone control type EQ is the Manley Pultecs. It's not a full parametric design, but it is very easy to use, sounds wonderful and settings are quickly arrived at (a big consideration with EQ devices). The Weiss and Massenbu...
Why dosome high pwr amps fail to drive some spkrs? Interesting discussion. Ulf, what exactly do you mean when you say drive? To some extent it sounds as if you don't like the tonal balance of certain amps with your speakers and you're attributing it to a fault in the amp. It makes sense that you m...
Equalization done right, experiences? What do you want to use the EQ for - room correction, tone controls, or both? Whether you go digital or analog depends on the rest of your system. Digital units typically offer more individual EQ bands than comparably priced analog units.
Am I missing something? The Monitor Audios are very good speakers. Why change anything if you're happy with them?
Permanently sealing a vented subwoofer?? Drew, please contact the engineering departments at B&W, Avalon, Monitor Audio, Proac, Spendor, Eggleston, Wilson, Sonus Faber, VMPS, Harbeth, et. al. and let them know about the problems with their "cheap" and "small" designs.
ML owners, what equipment are you using? I am not offended and I certainly hope I haven't offended you, but you have been repetitive. Audiogon is a great place for information, but it can be very unsatisfying for some. The fact is Martin Logans work very well with a wide variety of equip...
ML owners, what equipment are you using? I've had good results with Martin Logan with entry level Jeff Rowland amps and Discovery cables. In different guises you seem to be asking the same question over and over. |
