What Bryston says about power cord...
It's also possible that these manufacturers haven't heard the huge and dramatic improvements in sound quality that numerous audiophiles swear they've heard after spending large dollars on after market power cords. May be that Bryston and REL don't...
Klipschorn: Still relevant??
Larry510, is it possible for you to imagine that some people have listened to Klipsch (Heresy, LaScala, KHorn) speakers and didn't fall in love with them. Maybe they wanted a speaker that went deeper in the bass, or one that soundstaged with more ...
Klipschorn: Still relevant??
Larry510, why should he spend up to $2,500 to get inferior overall sound than what he already has?
Easiest compromise for weakest link?
For all but reference caliber systems you can scrimp on cables/interconnects/wire and not take too big a hit sonically. Going to a manufacturer's mid level offerings in wire can generate big cost savings with only a marginal loss of sound quality.
Klipschorn: Still relevant??
Larry510, you're the one who claims the CARs may be a little better than your Cornwalls. Others might not be so kind. Pawlowski, do yourself a favor. Don't change anything. There are better systems than yours, some might even be less expensive tha...
Klipschorn: Still relevant??
Pawlowski, it might be helpful if you stated what is so wrong with your system that you want to make such a major change. Your original post makes it sound like you're just bored and want to change just to change. In broad generalizations, SETs can...
What Was Thrown Off the Tallahatchie Bridge?
The reason I started this post is because two weekends ago I saw Lucinda Williams. She was great. Did primarily older material, but also did 4 or 5 new songs. Says she has enough recorded material for two new albums. Anyway, her final encore was "...
Don't Think I'll Buy This...
It seems as if some people here want it handed to them on a silver platter. While an ad should be informative, it's not a sales brochure. If you buy something just because it has a great ad, then P.T. was right. Why stop at pictures, how about str...
Klipschorn: Still relevant??
Klipsch do some things very well, but they are not modern speakers. If you want to get serious about horns you might want to consider something like the Classic Audio Reproduction line. They use much better drivers and parts than Klipsch and it's ...
6moons review of FAB Audio Model 1 speaker
As reviews go, it seems like a reasonable review. He tried the speaker in different systems and in different rooms and enlisted the help of the manufacturer, but in the end concluded he didn't like the speaker's tonal balance. It's not like he tra...
What Was Thrown Off the Tallahatchie Bridge?
I never imagined there was a political agenda in the question or the possible answers. Now if I had asked a question about:Fighting soldiers from the sky Fearless men who jump and die Men who mean just what they say The brave men of the Green Bere...
Wood cones - any experiences?
Overstock.com has the mini system featuring these speakers for $325 (scroll down the page). It seems like interesting tech stuff, but it's not aim at the high end market. I haven't heard it, but it's probably a very good buy at this price if you'r...
Isolation Devices, Something to put on top of unit
Before doing anything make sure your rack is positioned in a bass null point in the room. That way you'll have less bass attacking your top plates to deal with.
spica and ls3/5a's
If you like the Spica design, then you should find a pair of their Angelus model. Betters the TC50 in every area. The British model is a great compact monitor and definitely delivers the midrange, but the bass is problematic. Overall, the 3/5a is ...
NPR, Wine Tasteing, & Audiophiles
I wouldn't have thought this a few years ago, but I now see the audiophile world's rejection of blind testing as part of our society's larger anti-science movement. In concept the traditional audiophile view is not that different than creationist ...
