Is Digital actually better than Analog? Up until a month ago I was a firm believer that analog vinyl was vastly superior to Redbook digital, but that was before I encountered HyperAnalog. HypeA is actually a digital format and it takes vinyl playback beyond the proverbial next level t...
cdp's you had glitches with i'm only reportingbut,I won;t mention any namesIf both statements were true, then what exactly do you have to say? But then again you did mention Bluenote, Cayin and Cary.there are coverups going onI'll only start to take you seriously when you be...
phono stage break in? Nsgarch, thanks for the explanation. I don't agree, but I see your logic. IMO any broadband signal feed into a phono stage at an appropriate level should work as a break-in device. Just my opinion and it's not like I've run comparative listening t...
phono stage break in? Why does a phono break-in signal have to have the RIAA equalization curve? The equalization is intended to improved high frequency S/N and increased per side playing time. Neither consideration is an issue with a break-in signal.
Which cable is most important to spend money on... It is not important nor wise to spend serious amounts of money on cables of any sort until you've got the fundamentals (source components, amps, speakers, etc) of your system down. In the interim there are any number of sub $100 interconnects and ...
embarassment du choix No brainer, buy the more expensive cable and then spend the next year and 10x what you saved upgrading all your other equipment so that your 70s disco collection once again has outstanding PACE, sounds detailed, yet warm and still has that wall to...
what to do cordless phone amplifier problem This is not your first post regarding your static problems. I have no idea whether it's related to your phone system or not, but I would recommend that you contact a few local recording studios and find out who does their electric work and have yo...
A new analog medium Do you have any idea what it cost to manufacture a laserdisc? It's vastly more complicated and expensive than putting a driver in a box. Not to say it can't be done, so why aren't you doing it if it's so worthwhile?
I've found the cd player for analog lovers I kinda' disagree with Dougdeacon. First, there is a "natural" volume for any purist type recording that relates to the distance from the microphone to the performers. It's not critical that you playback at that volume, but if you do it will prese...
A new analog medium The economics won't work for manufacturing laserdiscs. While the sonics could be quite good, there would be a very limited market since consumers would have to buy a new player. No major manufacturer will get on board now since it would further co...
Half the information on CDs is analogue Sean, I don't question your specific results, but do they really warrant the blanket statements you've posted about in this thread and others about analog to digital conversion?
Half the information on CDs is analogue Sean, please name your digital recorder. The implications of your comments is that A/D conversions cannot capture any analog signal, whether a line feed from a microphone or the output of a tape deck. Even professionals who prefer analog recording...
Half the information on CDs is analogue In some metaphysical sense there is no real distinction between analog and digital information, but practically speaking, particularly if we exclude the printed info on the CD disc/packing, 100% of the data (music) contained on a CD is digitally e...
Morph The Cat : Revisited Actually, "The Nightfly" was recorded at 50/16 on a 32 track 3M digital recorder using 45ips tape. I believe it won a Grammy for best engineering and it is frequently used as a reference by engineers particularly for vocal recording.
phono stage break in? Why can't you just record some broadband noise, reduce the level by some arbitrary amount, say 60dB, burn a CD of the now low level noise and then plug your phono preamp into the CD player. I've not tried this, but it should work. |
