Jamming with JAMO?

Has anybody heard the new Audio Research LS 27?
An example of a company staying in business by meeting a pre-existing market demand - airlines. Say I want to go to Europe from the U.S., several airline companies are there to meet my need. Essentially airlines replaced cruise ships and at some p...
Has anybody heard the new Audio Research LS 27?
Companies can stay competitive in an open market by satisfying pre-existing customer demands and needs. Alternatively companies can be equally successful by creating customer demand and needs and offering solutions to problems customers didn't eve...
REF 3 In My System?
Cmalak, good explanation, but I wasn't thinking about old style tubey sound. I'm thinking along the line of something Tim da Paravinici may have said about how he could get tubes to sound like solid state and vice versa. My perception is that tube...
REF 3 In My System?
What's the advantage of using tubes if the product sounds like a solid state design. I'm assuming there is a real advantage.
Question on small bass drivers in tower speakers
It depends what you mean by small driver. Without large amounts of EQ 3" or 4" drivers cannot produce deep bass (below 50Hz) without severe limitations in distortion or output level. But once you start getting into 6" to 9" drivers it becomes a di...

What's your best 5U4GB rectifier tube and why?
The sound of a tube is heavily dependent upon the design of the circuit it is used in. What sounds best in one design may not be the best choice in another application.
help me to understand the gain
I not saying what the problem is, I'm offering a solution. If he keeps the Zu speakers he should redo his preamp/amp. If he gets rid of the Zu, he just needs new speakers. Which is easier and less expensive to implement?
The downward spiral.....
In the same way that you don't consider the $1k system as adequate, someone would look down on your $7.5k system as insufficient for truly enjoying music. There's no substitute for a serious $150k system? It's funny how that works.
A warning to all about HUGE Subwoofers
I'm going to contact my insurance agent and see if subwoofer damage is covered by my policy. Thanks for the warning.
help me to understand the gain
Sell the Zu speakers and get another speaker with lower, say mid-80s, efficiency. You'll get more of you're money back selling the Zus, they are a hot item compared to the McCormack amp. There are plenty of fine speakers out there that like an amp...
