XLR vs RCA
It's driven by what electronic you use. If they are truly balanced designs, then you're better off with balanced cables.
2C HiFi Epiphany - Worlds Best System?
The most recent TAS reviews Soulution's intro line of amplifiers which costs around $30,000 for a preamp and mono amps. Two different reviewers conclude that the pieces aren't quite as good as the company's better and best offerings, but comes rea...
Mac Mini as a Server
Generally, the more RAM the better, but 16Gb is alot of RAM. You would be fine with only 8Gb. Store your music on an external drive (no reason not get 1Tb) and also get a backup drive. Use playback software that allows memory playback.
Jazz in porn movies
Go to YouTube and search for "porn music". There's tons of it. The classic funk/fusion sounds from the 70s and 80s were extensively used in porn. In fact, it inspired a turn of the century comeback in the form of "porn groove" lounge music. Music ...
Soundstage - when wide is too wide
Play a mono recording of vocalist with sparse accompaniment. You will need to adjust your system to get a tight center image on the voice. If you then play the guitar music and it still has an unrealistically big sonic image, then it's the way it ...
I can't get a wood bodied Benz anymore
I had Soundsmith retip a Benz Ruby earlier this year. The turnaround time was less than 4 weeks. I haven't installed it yet, so can't say about sound quality.
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
Even if your system is neutral, how do you know the recording is a faithful capture of a real event?
Uneven speaker cable lengths?

Uneven speaker cable lengths?
The audiophile dogma is that listening trumps theory. Has anybody actually heard a difference when using unmatched cable lengths?
Agree or Disagree? - FM tuner info site
Having the tuner aligned is as important as having a phono cartridge set for VTF, azimuth and VTA. You just won't know what the tuner is capable of sounding like and pulling in stations until the procedure is done.
"Famous Blue Raincoat"..
"Famous Blue Raincoat" is a wonderful album -- good singer, good musicians, tasteful arrangements and good sound. Some trivia, "Tom's Diner" is the diner on the UWS that's featured in "Seinfield". The song was also the music used to develop the MP3...
SONIC FRONTIERS LINE 3...TUBES & CAPS upgrade
I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money, but if I were you, I'd send it to the guy at Parts Express. To not do so would be penny wise and pound foolish. It's real close to a no-brainer type decision. Best of luck!
SONIC FRONTIERS LINE 3...TUBES & CAPS upgrade
Stick to you position! You have a local tech, so why let the original designer and the developer of the best mods touch your amp? It would be like sending it back to the original manufacturer. Instead you could have a local guy open it up and try ...
