Do not buy any Sonus Faber used Not having read any of the above replies, my thoughts:Sumiko is not the manufacturer, "just" the NA distributor. I'm sure if SF wasn't happy about their policy, things would change (either the policy or the distrubutor). Sounds more like an effort...
PASS LABS XA-30.5 vs XA-60.5 Alfa100,I had the XP20 for about a month. It's a great preamp but ultimately liked the sound I'm getting from my tubed CJ mated with the Pass. Knowing that tubes can sometimes be problematic, I told my Pass dealer that I will just send him a check...
PASS LABS XA-30.5 vs XA-60.5 Alfa100,If the needle isn't moving on your 30.5, I would be inclined to keep it. If you do upgrade, go for the 100.5.
At What Point is the Needle Damaging Records? According to Neil Young, he's seen the needle and the damage done, a little part of it in everyone. :-)I would replace or retip it.
Looking at simple set-up for iMac to preamp I see Ths364 posted while I was typing mine. Ya got me :-)
Looking at simple set-up for iMac to preamp Does the iMac have a headphone jack? If so, and you said you wanted simple......Most simple: get a mini to L/R rca plug (Radio Shack or?). Mini goes into the iMac headphone jack, the rca's go into an unused input jack of your preamp or integrated....
Pre for Pass XA60.5 Boso27, I have not compared my CJ's to the others you mentioned. They are all top tier preamps. Hard to go wrong with any of them. One will ultimately suit "your" tastes the most. Good luck.
Favorite 845 tube monoblocks Cary 805 AE, Maggie 3.6's (believe it or not), and either a Conrad Johnson ART or ACT 2.2 preamp.
Pre for Pass XA60.5 After I purchased the Pass amps, my dealer let me demo the XP-20. I liked it a lot. I preferred my tube pres and returned the 20 but I told the dealer, "If any of my tube preamps ever give me a problem, I will just send you a check for a new 20." ...
Horning owners what amps have you used? Dpe, Read up on the Cary 805 monoblocks. They may do the trick for you. This is what led me to a pair:I own/owned 45, 2a3, 300b and 845 amps. My favorite is a 300b (well designed of course). I have them mated to "proper" speakers in one of my syst...
Jitter and 75ohm cable length I compared a 3' and 6' length of the same brand of a digital coax and liked the 3' better. The 6' was darker (mellower?) and might have been my choice if my system was on the bright side. They were extra cables I had laying around and was experime...
Pre for Pass XA60.5 I have Pass's 30.5 and 100.5 amps and I pair them with Conrad Johnson ART and ACT 2.2 tube preamps. I find them to be great preamps no matter what I hook them up to including some small triode amps. Both of those pres are no longer current so used ...
300B tubes I purchased 2 pairs of the GL 300b for a push-pull I got recently. I like their sound and they behave perfectly. Some tubes just work better in certain circuits. Staying south of KR/EML/WE prices, I like the Sophia Meshes also.
Does your system take you there or...? My thoughts:The more a system can retrieve micro details, the more it's going to give you back what the microphone picked up "at" the recording making it easier to create the illusion of being at the venue. Also important, the more your equipment ...
At what volume do you typically listen? " I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who listens at lower levels."I'm one also. There is an art to putting a system together that sounds great a low volume. Over the years in this hobby, I've found that many amps and speakers need to be ... |
