+ 1 noromance, Don't leave it running without a certain amount of vigilance. I don't care where it's made or whether it has a sticker or not.Safety first, AY?Regards
speaker xover design/testing
+ 1 for GR. The problem is he needs the speaker to design his crossover.Any other way, (unless he had your actual XO fix on hand). Would be a shot in the dark at best... He'll want the box, might be able to get away with one. BUT the XO won't have...

Low incoming voltage
120, is the US standard. 110 is not.  It use to be 110-117.  The older gear yes the newer gear NO. Plane and simple. Brown out is the worst when it comes to overheating, and in general shortening their life.My older valve, point to point stuff, I ...
Tubes?
+2 twoleftears, Lower sensitivity speakers just have to be matched. Second HIGH sensitivity can lead to a high floor noise if your not careful, just depends on what your willing to listen to, and put up with.A valve preamp, with those 601s will su...

Same Wiring of Speakers and Speaker Cables
NO!  I use solid core a LOT on my stuff. Some say stranded only, others could care less, because no one ever looked.. There is a  lot of that in commercial speakers.. VERY bad wire securement, (floppin in the wind) small cheap wire. A lot of wire ...
Can Yamaha AS-1000 effectively drive 6 ohm speakers
Yea your good...I've never  listened to Yamahas. Look like they have some pretty good specs AND A/B stable at 2 ohm, pretty impressive. LOW distortion, biwire on board, dampening is realistic.  How do they sound? They got the beef, or are we talkin...

What Combinations of Components Have You Put Together That Sound Good?
I'm very close with a few systems. At the center are Monsoon neo 8 planars, and Aurum Cantus, ribbon treaters. VMPS RMx Elixirs, Rm40s and RM30s. They are all coupled with MB Columns, and servo bass systems. I like Mac gear combined with Cary Valv...
Evolving from a avr to an av processor. Benefit?
OK MC, I gotta say, if your gonna keep tootin' the same horn you're gonna wear it out. You're gonna get carpal tunnel syndrome, at the least. Swap tootin' hands, maybe it'll sound different. As for the best, come on now...It couldn't get any bette...

Floorstanding speakers - $2-3K
You know 18x18x9. That is real close to a "be careful" size, especially with a strict point source speaker. It might be a better room for an electrostatic, or something along that line. You’re gonna need some room treatment for sure.I don’t know h...
My pet peeve: "revealing" speakers
My Grandmother would say MC is haughty. BUT, she would say it in a very kind and understanding way. I’m learning... Even about stereo gear. :-)Revealing, NO idea, what it means. I guess I'll be learning. Thanks andRegards
Evolving from a avr to an av processor. Benefit?
My personal, preference is Mac, I like um. I don’t use all the latest and greatest when it comes to HT, I use a MX 120 and 121. I prefer the former though it’s not the best HT. I’ve found the play through on Mac let’s just about any HT/AV/whatever...
