Words From the Wise
"You can't cheat an honest man" applies well to audio consumerism.
Which has a greater effect on music, int.amp or CD?
Thanks for answering, Matty. I was just checking to see if there were any confounds to your previous statement.Joel - IME, warmth and detail are not opposites, they can coexist. When under a certain budget though, they are often opponents.
Which has a greater effect on music, int.amp or CD?
Get the CDP that has the tone you want, and then the amplification that doesn't ruin its strengths. This has advantages, especially upgrading advantages, over getting an amp that replaces the sound of the CDP with its own, although this may work. ...
Audiogon/Asylum and magazine reviewers posts
"I wonder if Mr. Rubinson's current opinion has anything to do with the post here back in early June I left regarding his boorish behavior I witnessed in an elevator at the HE show in NYC."I doubt it. Mr. Rubison's comment is the summary of main r...

Very well done Martice. This is easily the best, most complete audiogon review I have seen.
Need a TERRIFIC phono stage at a GREAT Price?
Forget it, Adam. He'll never get to the point. It would be nice, though, if you gave us readers more of a reference (e.g. other stages).
When will the "Madness" stop
Sandle4 - you may enjoy going through the virtual systems and reading the owner-comments. Maybe you should type your up.
Power cable question.
Aftermarket cords do not necessarily produce better sound than OEM, which is strong evidence of their utter system and component dependency. Do you think your amp would be able to take advantage of the more expensive cable, assuming the quality of...
Review: David Berning Co MicroZOTL Tube amp
Your review implies to me that besides that output power, any limitation or weakness of the Micro is not siginificant enough to include. Is that true? Would you recommend it to an A.G. owner?
Review: Rega Planet 2000 CD Player
You have heard all those CDPs and that is all you can say about the Planet, nothing?
Am I the only one who thinks B&W is mid-fi?
"Ohlala what would you recommend to someone with my tastes that would outperform the Linns for a similar price."That was my point. If your taste is Linn and alike, then it easy to say they are The best speaker. I bought Hales instad of Ninkas, but...
Am I the only one who thinks B&W is mid-fi?
From your description of the Linns is sounds like you listen to CDs. If you listen to LP, you may be dissapointed in comparison to other speakers (i was) that have more realistic dimensions to their sound, and a more extended frequency range. I ca...
Rega Planet 2000 vs Classe CDP.3
Don't be silly. The .3 is very easy to find (w/ pictures!):http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?dgtlplay&1031369617Your post is an ad in its entirety, not just the offer. You should copy and paste if and when you try to sell it, legitimately....
RB300 tonearm cable upgrade?
Personally, if the cost is $200-300, I would trade for a better TT. The tonearm is already the best thing about Planar 3, and blah, blah, blah. But I am not clued in on the practical side of your potential upgrade, so I take my opinion for whateve...
Cables 101 for a beginner
Do the fatwyre library, Dennis, and the interconnect and speaker cables in one shot. When you get the chance to experiment you may come to find that there are more misnomers than rules of thumb.
