Why are my woofers pumping? Thanks Cleeds, but I don't agree. Please prove the case. Why does the arm kill the cartridge?
Why are my woofers pumping? I am happy with everything this combo does, except that it overarches in the low region, takes in too much. What about a simple cut off below 10 hz. Maybe a DIY. I use XLR cables. Suggestions, anyone?
Why are my woofers pumping? Thanks Cleeds - yes, I just tried with and without oil in the fluid damping trough on the arm. Made no difference.
Why are my woofers pumping? It is a long-term discussion - https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/how-to-change-effective-mass-of-a-sme-vAtmasphere, isn’t your Triplanar arm mass higher than the SME V? I should get the arm mass down, to get the resonance frequency up - true?...
Why are my woofers pumping? Thanks, all! Atmasphere - you may be right. But Lyra does not warn, and web debate does not complain, using the Atlas on the SME V - so i wonder.Czarivey - good suggestion, but I doubt speakers or airborn feedback is the cause. Sounds (looks) much...
Why are my woofers pumping? It happens regardless of the vinyl record, it seems. It is not mainly a matter of warp or off-centred records.
Phono stage Hi David - based on your sonic preferences - take me to the next level, etc - I suggest an Aesthetix phono stage. They sometimes appear used for a fair price. You can move up, if needed, from there. I did, some years ago, investing in a basic ver...
Recommended Speaker List for Atma-Sphere OTL Amplifiers. I agree with the praise for OTL, and Atma-Sphere. I own a pair of MA-1s and have not looked back. I tried with different speakers, and even if 8 ohm speakers sounded OK, the full benefit of the amps was evident only when I got Audiokinesis Dream M...
Total cost of ownership - how to reduce it What does the audiophile do, in a situation with shrinking income? Downscale? Let me think - I have followed this brand X for many years. Do I get a rebate, for replacements or upgrades? No, not to my knowledge. It seems that high level audio is s...
Fix Aesthetix Io volume control? Update:The Io is back from repair at Aesthetix. It took a long time, several components had to be replaced, problems were difficult to locate, and it was only after changing both volume controls that the repairs could be made. I had to wait a long...
Vinyl recordings - best methods Dgarretson - same with me, my Revox A77 remains on my loft. To get better recordings than 2xDSD on the Tascam, the Revox would at least need a service and probably some considerable upgrade too. I recorded to open reel tape on the Revox for many y...
Audiophile recording and playback - Tascam DA-3000 Ozzy - nice to hear. So what do you use as Dac?
Audiophile recording and playback - Tascam DA-3000 While I am at it - one last thing. Don’t record too polite and low, on the Tascam. I went down too low on my early DSD recordings, and have to turn the volume way up - 15-20 percent to sound standard loud, on playback devices like the Fiio X3ii. I...
Audiophile recording and playback - Tascam DA-3000 I am using the Tascam as my main DAC. I either record from vinyl, play vinyl recordings, or play digital music. My source for digital is the Squeezebox Touch. This can play 192/24 bit files, now, with the EDO plugin (Enhanced digital output and Ke...
Audiophile recording and playback - Tascam DA-3000 I was a bit surprised that a preamp maker told me to use balanced out (volume controlled) rather than line out, for recording. In the old days it was always "use line out". I recorded many vinyl drops on my trusty old Revox A77, and the line out w... |
