Amp to drive Dynaudio C-1
In no particular order: Musical Fidelity, Bryston, Accuphase, Simaudio, Plinus. Also, I agree with Xti16. You do not need tones of power but quality power.
Amp and Preamp for JM Lab Alto Utopias
Hi Bill, sorry for my late reply.I heard the Micro Be with the Gryphon Tabu but it was very long time ago so I can not give you any details. While looking on the net for this Tabu integrated (I could not remember its name) I stumbled on a few site...
Review: Focal Micro Be vs. Dynaudio C1 mk1 Monitor
Hi guys, sorry for the late reply.Extravaganza, regarding your question C2 vs. C1 (mk2 models), I definitively did not find the C2s to be better than the C1s. The C2s put out more energy in the low department (something I did not find the C1s to l...
Review: Focal Micro Be vs. Dynaudio C1 mk1 Monitor
Ok, last week I went to a dealer who had both the C1 mk1 and mk2 models in stock and I have compared them directly using my Accuphase combo (Accuphase E-550 and DP-500). Indeed, the new ones sound clearer than the old ones. However, this most prob...
Amp and Preamp for JM Lab Alto Utopias
Bill, the MF Tri-Vista 300 is most certainly better than the A5 (so are the Nu-Vista and the KW-500/550 models). The A308 on the other hand is not. I have compared the A5 vs the A308 for a few good hours and I did not hear any difference between t...
JM Labs, Focal Diablo Utopia VS. Micro Utopia BE
Extravaganza, indeed the Dyns do not sound as clean as the Focals, but the Focals also do not sound as natural as the Dyns. When listening live to good musicians one is never struck by the amount of details that can be heard. The music as a whole ...
Amp and Preamp for JM Lab Alto Utopias
Bill, in your post you have mentioned that the MF KW power amp was probably more expensive than the rest (ASR and Utopias which you mentioned were around $10.5k). Of course, when I said that the asking price was a joke I did not meant it as a repr...
Accuphase Class A or A/B speaker match Dynaudio C1
Hi Kalibur,First, regarding my previous post, I should add that I listen to rather low listen levels, i.e. 70-80 dBs. At these levels my E-550 still had at least 20 dBs of headroom before clipping. Whether or not this will be enough for you it wil...
Accuphase Class A or A/B speaker match Dynaudio C1
I have experience with the E-550 (also 30 watts into 8 ohms) and the C1s mk1. The E-550 had absolutely no problem to drive the C1s (see also my previous comments about the E-550 amp). The E-560 has more drive than the E-550, i.e. it sounds louder ...
Amp and Preamp for JM Lab Alto Utopias
Bill, I find the prices you have quoted extremely high. More than 10.5 k for a KW 750 power amp must be a joke. (Here in europe one will have a hard time selling it for 3-3.5k euros.) IMO the building quality of the MF products decreased over time...
Review: Focal Micro Be vs. Dynaudio C1 mk1 Monitor
Xti16, thanks for your comments they are consistent to what I have read also on other forums. So, am I understanding correctly that the mk2 and Signature models are clearer but without losing the reach and natural midrange of the original C1s?Mapm...
Amp and Preamp for JM Lab Alto Utopias
If a home audition is not possible maybe you can bring your speakers to the dealer and listen there to the combination for 1-2 days. If this is not possible either than I am sure you can find a better dealer in Seoul. While I do not have any exper...

The weather may be bad in Korea but on the other hand they really know how to treat professors there (e.g. they bow). :)I do not have any experience with the Emitter amplifiers and I should say that you do not see them that often in hi-fi shops an...
JM Labs, Focal Diablo Utopia VS. Micro Utopia BE
Volvonsound, I have just wrote a review of Focal Utopia Micro Be vs. Confidence C1 (mk1). You can find it here:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?rspkr&1316578197&openmine&zzNvp&4&5#NvpThe MicroBes have enough bass but now...
accuphase compare to mcintosh
Hi guys, sorry for the late reply.Tzh2ly: The terms faster and slow refer to the attack of a note e.g. the key of a piano or the strings of a guitar or harps, and not to the tempo(speed) of the music (i.e. bits per minute). Of course, a whole orch...
