Need Help with a Hardware Bracket set-up... A.) You're talking about adding a lot more weight to an assembly that, from the way you describe it, is already pretty heavy. I doubt that the wall fasteners used to attach the existing marble shelves to the wall will be able to take it -- Oops!!B...
EMM Lab DCC2 & CDSD Better connection? Use ST glass for sure. The best out there (*see note) is the Aural Symphonics Optimism V2 ($950) and they now make one especially for EMM Labs. Go to:http://www.auralsymphonics.com/index.html* note: They also make one called the Exelon, on special...
Extension cords If you don't mind a little DIY, HD has 10 AWG twisted, stranded (for EMI, RFI rejection) Carol cord in bulk. They also carry some excellent male/female AC plugs that are very easy to wire (they're yellow, can't remember the brand.)
Ever use "switched" outlets on preamp? I wouldn't plug digital equipment ( or anything with a digital "readout") into the preamp as it can "dirty" the power going into the preamp with RFI. In fact, it's best to keep digital equipment on a different wall circuit altogether.A turntable, ...

Optical Cable Dminches, I do no know them all. But here is a review of two of the on AA:http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/general/messages/233584.htmlAlso, you can search Google for 'glass' and 'toslink'.Since Toslink tranceivers (the little part on your equipme...
Optical Cable What you want is a glass (not plastic) Toslink cable. But I think they're more than $60.
Mark Levinson 25 vs 25s vs JC-2 If you can get a 25s for $1600, buy it right now! I was happy to pay $2500 for mine! (I also have a 23.5 and 26s bal -- see my system) However that seems a very low price for a 25s, even without a power supply! You don't actually need another powe...
"Light" power cord recommendations I use an Audio Metallurgy Gold Alloy-9 for this purpose. Very "limp" and light and an excellent cord. It's not shielded, but it's double twisted. I'm using it from a balanced power unit, so noise and hum aren't really a problem anyway.
The Nitty Gritty Record Cleaner?? The thing I don't like about my NG is the vacuum motor is so loud! Are the VPI and/or Lori quieter?
Martin Logan CLSII Z Limited Edition I think they were called the Anniversary Edition, and were the same animal and price ($4500) as the standard CLS IIz except possibly for some additional available finishes. You can find out for sure on the Martin Logan Owners' Club website:www.mar...
A. S. Optimism v2 vs H.T. Cyberlight Digital Hi Renaat,You are comparing two different animals. Even though the HT uses glass optical cable, it is not really a glass digital interconnect like the AS. It creates two additional (optical) interfaces, just so you can maybe avoid some RFI? Might ...
Best Balanced/XLR Under $200 If you can score a pair of used Straightwire Maestro II, you'll be pretty thrilled. Why those? Well besides great materials (teflon, ofc stranded copper, blah, blah), the two signal conductors (in each cable) are separately shielded, which in bala...
Mcintosh Speaker cable connection question?? The two blacks are negative (c stands for "common", sometimes also called "ground") and should be connected to the - on your loudspeakers. The red ones are positive and should correspond to the + on your loudspeakers.
Power Cord for Digital Make sure it has at least 12 AWG conductors and has a "floating" shield (that's a braided and/or foil shield that's connected only at the AC plug end.)That may sound like overkill, but for some reason CDPs and CDTs and (especially) DACs seem to li... |
