Audiophile Speakers for Rock, HipHop and Techno
I haven't owned a pair of speakers since my JBL's or Definitive Techs that sounded good for the majority of rock recordings but think that's partially to most rock isn't recorded that well to begin with. The Dynaudio's I had were the worst.
First impressions of the Isoacoustic Gaia 1’s
Not trying to start a war and being that as much as I love music and my equipment, I wish there were ways to improve the sound without replacing or upgrading. It’s just MO that certain ideas or tweaks that people buy into may or may not be an imp...
First impressions of the Isoacoustic Gaia 1’s
Placebo effect at it's best. I understand room, wall, ceiling, treatments will alter sound but never believe these products do anything but I am a skeptic in a lot of ways.
most beautiful (looking) speakers
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Tekton. Actually being sarcastic here as I've always been a more traditionalist in the way speakers look and couldn't handle having to look at some of the weirder (IMO) designs that have been posted regardless of how...
Cambridge CXN
I haven't done anything yet but try to research online to no avail.  Haven't tried the usb connection on the preamp yet but have the CXN hooked up with the digital coax and also the balanced audio out to see if I could tell a difference switching...
Speaker and amp pairing
JMO, but I just bought a different amp that I always wanted to replace an amp that was still doing good after all these years but moved it to a den system. Both good quality amps. Could tell NO difference in sound coming out of the speakers. I'm...
JBL L112
Wow what memories. My first pair of real speakers were the L112's powered by a Sansui AU-X1 and would give anything to have that system back. And to think, I sold that stuff to a buddy dirt cheap just so I could get into home theater. No way I'd...
easy listening for small/medium bright room
I've owned several PMC speakers including the TB2 monitor and have never thought of them being harsh in the high notes, just the opposite actually as I have tinnitus myself and have never like overly bright speakers. Now my current ones (PB1i) ar...
What's your dream speaker?
I don't know how I could ever say what would be my dream speaker since there is absolutley no way to listen to practially anything these days and haven't heard a whole lot of different ones. On paper and from things I've read it would be a higher...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
I always wanted some Mcintosh equipment for some reason and finally bought an amp and preamp several months ago. Doesn't sound any better than the B&K stuff I replaced but like the looks and love the tone controls but way simpler for the old l...
So I just bought a Hegel H390 and
Older thread and you may have already bought your speakers by now but I just bought a used pair or totem speakers that I think sound fantastic and if I were in the market for new towers, I would definitely check them out. Very pleasing highs, not ...
The grace digital link internet radio
You got that right audioguy especially as I spent an hour or two trying to figure out why it disappeared only to read online today that Pandora has discontinued support for older grace digital products. I just hooked up an old laptop to my pre-amp...
The grace digital link internet radio
I have one of the older units and as of yesterday, will no longer play Pandora which is mainly what I listened to.Now have to search for a few decent internet radio stations or buy something different.
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
I'm in the camp that the KEF LS50 is way over rated for the price. I have a pair of Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 that sound almost as good for a third of the price. Years ago I had a pair of Walsh Ohm towers that sure never did it for me and were expe...
What did your system look like 30 years ago?
My 1st real system was a Dual CS5000 with Shure V15 MR that I still own. JBL L112's. Sansui AU-X1 with Audio control EQ. Sansui TU-919 tuner. And to think, I practically gave this stuff away to get into home theater.
