Hidden Gems in Classic Rock Albums
Love this thread and thanks to whom ever posted about Bowie's "Cracked Actor". Forgot how much I loved that song. There is an internet radio station called Desert Underground that plays obscure classic rock and came across a Tom Petty song worth ...
Can a better power cable make a difference if NOT plugged directly into an outlet?
The way I see it, if you spend a bunch on cables it HAS to sound better right?
Somewhat obscure Mcintosh amps.
Ok and thanks Roxy. I haven't read to much about that only the "auto-transformers".

Roxy, BTW, what didn't you like about it if you don't mind saying please? I read that same thing Elliott and it sound and looks like from the pics of the back, you can configure any channel in mono mode to output the 275 per channel vs 80. I only...
Maybe buying a different amp
Thanks to you both.
Maybe buying a different amp
Thanks for the and ideas and replies. Traveling very far is out of the question right now hence why I stated that I'm basically relying on reviews and posts from audio enthusiasts like yourselves. I have read quite a bit about some of the amps li...
Maybe buying a different amp
MC352 and I've been using a B&K and I figured on spending up to 5k new or used. There isn't much available in my area to visit and hear and mostly go by online reviews and threads on this forum for ideas.
Power cord - 5 ft vs 10 ft ?
I personally like Jason's posts, always succinct and to the point. There is always so much pseudoscience involved with Hi-Fi it's hard to figure out what is actually real and what's not. I'm a firm believer in the fact that 1, 2, or 3, meter cor...
More Bass
My speakers are similar to yours in specs anyway and since I'm a bass lover and rarely use my sub, I just use the tone controls on my pre-amp and get all the bass I want and can handle. Problem solved. I personally don't believe in speaker "break...
what cd player ?
I bought a used Marantz SA-14 back in 2003 that is still going strong and sounds wonderful, still have an even older Denon I use with the den system and also have an old Rotel in the garage that is nice and has been bullet proof. Lots of nice old...
Audiophile Speakers for Rock, HipHop and Techno
I haven't owned a pair of speakers since my JBL's or Definitive Techs that sounded good for the majority of rock recordings but think that's partially to most rock isn't recorded that well to begin with. The Dynaudio's I had were the worst.
First impressions of the Isoacoustic Gaia 1’s
Not trying to start a war and being that as much as I love music and my equipment, I wish there were ways to improve the sound without replacing or upgrading. It’s just MO that certain ideas or tweaks that people buy into may or may not be an imp...

Placebo effect at it's best. I understand room, wall, ceiling, treatments will alter sound but never believe these products do anything but I am a skeptic in a lot of ways.
most beautiful (looking) speakers
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Tekton. Actually being sarcastic here as I've always been a more traditionalist in the way speakers look and couldn't handle having to look at some of the weirder (IMO) designs that have been posted regardless of how...
Cambridge CXN
I haven't done anything yet but try to research online to no avail.  Haven't tried the usb connection on the preamp yet but have the CXN hooked up with the digital coax and also the balanced audio out to see if I could tell a difference switching...
