Home grown turntable platform/base?
As maple and walnut are the same density, the thicker maple is better value and at twice the thickness, more effective at damping etc.

@terry9 I tried the Boston graphite mat. Beautifully made but killed the sound - sucked the life out of it. Sent it back.@sleepwalker65 Rubber sounds like rubber. Rubbery and like rubber sounds.

No. I tried other cables using 2534 for a second arm. It was substantially inferior to the Jelco. I do not know why other than it didn’t sound good.Tell you what. Buy the Jelco RCA for $88. If you don’t like it, I will buy it from you.

Yeah. My Decca (London) Super Gold cartridge. I was actually going to throw it away after mothballing it in 2000. It never worked well on my LP12. Ten years later, I refurbished it and put it on a 401 and love it and would never part with it. 
Buying large audio equipment
