Goodbye Everyone
@mijostyn In my younger days, I had an OM2 which was a great camera. Then a Pentax K1000 which I loved but it was fussy on autofocus, and a Nikon F2. Man, film was a drag waiting for the prints at the store. We developed our own monos.
Goodbye Everyone
That’s a serious commitment, Elliot! Nice photos. My first foray into DPR was a Cybershot in 2002! Have a (lower end) Nikon 5100 and Canon Xti with a bunch of lenses. I rarely use them anymore. https://www.dpreview.com/products/sony/compacts/so...

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
+1 @mahgister Nicely written. My constraint is guided by my internal bang for the buck barometer using components that provide the best possible sound for the investment. I could allocate more resources to the higher end but there is no need. I've...
Goodbye Everyone
@elliottbnewcombjr Delighted to hear dpreview is still going. I thought it was gone. What a truly great database. We need the hi-fi equivalent.
A very weird (to me) issue with an Audible Illusions Modulus L2B ...
Lordy. Or he could have put on his seat-belt and potentially saved EMS having to untangle his remains from a tree. Without "gov’t meddling," no one could walk away from a 30mph crash in an unmeddled sedan unharmed. Complain about government interf...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
So too are pride, greed, and avarice.  Envy is a terrible vice.
Floating ground in the apt. Building
Can 5" of wire in the ground make that much of an impact on sound quality? Apparently,  it can. You've done the experiment.
WOOD SURROUND for Audio Technica AT120; Technics 1200 and Technics 1210
The turntable seems to sit in the plinth. I wonder it it affects the sound. They look great.
Fading Background Vocals Conundrum
Okay, so OP’s boo-boo not withstanding, I can’t agree with @ghdprentice on his analysis. Fine details like a vocal line becoming recessed would indicate a failure to retrieve vital detail within the track. And blaming a system that does retrieve t...
How long does it take your tube amp to warm up?
Turntable grease bearing takes 20 minutes to "warm up." By the time that’s done, all tube amps (RIAA/preamp/monoblocs) are ready to go. While things are technically available after 2 minutes, sound opens up and has more musical coherence after 20 ...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@slaw  Good to know. Following up on HollyG., I'm diggin' her solo albums now after years of preferring Holly G and The Brokeoffs. Your note made me take a deeper dive.

Whats on your turntable tonight?
Dave Brubeck Quartet- Time Out (Columbia 1959 mono) Comparing this recording to a circa 2020 180grm state of the art jazz album shows how much we have lost. 60 years later and the new one sounds muffled and veiled.
